Body Work While motoring up the 170 today I heard a loud bang and looked in horror at the spider web of cracks that had just appeared on my Cooper's windshield. A large(ish) rock had hit my windshield just below the passenger side wiper creating a small spider web of cracks at the point of impact (about a 2 inch diameter) and about 7 or 8 longer cracks spreading out from the center (the longest at least a foot which spread by the end of the day from top to bottom of the windshield).
I got on my cell phone after the shock had dissipated a bit and called my Mini dealer (Assael, closest to where I live and it's where I bought the car) and made an appointment to have the windshield replaced.
As I drove to my destination I started to realize that the rock that hit my car was pretty damn big, as the bang was a "bang" and not a "snap" that usually occurs with pebbles on glass, also the damage was pretty substantial. I then started thinking that rocks like that don't just fall from the sky. My fears were confirmed when I reached my destination and saw the quarter size dent including a deep gash in the paint where the boulder had first impacted my car along with the scratch in the bonnet stripe.
I called Assael back and they informed me that they do not do body work. They recommended Seidner's Collision Center in Monrovia. Has anyone had any experiences with them good or bad? I really want this done well and soon as my car is only like 3 months old and I love it to death. Should I go with them or should I go with a place my insurance (Mercury) contracts with..they will pay for it either way as long as I pay the $250 deductible.
