How much over msrp

Well, my first post on these forums after reading them for months, here goes. I've seen that minis in San Diego go for higher than msrp. I was just wondering how much over the msrp I should expect to have to pay? I was hoping to get a basic 05 mini cooper standard with not really any extras. Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Also, is it worth going out of the area or even out of state to make my purchase?

I don't know the going prices in SoCal, but I suggest calling the dealers in Phoenix(Scottsdale) and Salt Lake City (Murray) to see what they have available. We bought one of our MINIs in AZ and the UT dealer also has a good reputation for fair deals. The Las Vegas dealer is an over-MSRP dealer.

Dont bother with the dealers in So Cal. I bought mine from Roadshow in Memphis, MSRP and NO hassles,
Give Mo Jacobs a call, she'll do you right. Shipping is between 500 to 1000, I flew back saved money and had a good time.

United-States bought Mine from Mini of Murray - Salt Lake City, Utah

Got my 2005 Mini Cooper S from Debbie Linge. Drove to Las Vegas, spent the night and back to Los Angeles the next day.

Mini of Murray sold at sticker, no state sales tax for Utah and I was able to pay the California state taxes with the 'savings'.

Good Luck

Gotta say this one more time. I'm in California and paid MSRP. I went through my credit union's "Autoland" representative.

You may wish to also explore your local credit union's auto services.

No need to leave Southern California. Just took delivery of my MINI from Crevier In Orange County. MSRP. Ask for Christian or Kirk. Also, Long Beach and South Bay in LA County sell at sticker. There may be others too.

Man, just get a membership at COSTCO, it's like $35, then you can get use COSTCO''s membership services to get just about any vehicle for $500 over invoice, forget paying MSRP

Pink Cooper don't pay anything over msrp

i spent alot of time researching the same question, then ran across a co-worker who's husband used to work for BMW, he said:
pay MSRP, but nothing over--no matter what the dealer says. i was prepared to pay 2% over but dealer wanted 8% over.
i called southbay BMW and was prepared to walk away if they wanted more thwn MSRP but was surprised that they quoted me MSRP ($26,500, fully-loaded). so i ordered from them.
good luck!

Let us know about costco.

Last I checked, Costco would not do "to spec" cars. You had to choose one off the dealer lot (not sure if that makes a difference to you).

If you want a to-spec car, Long Beach MINI will do it for you with no markups or funny dealer fees.

things are changing as well.

I was at Brecht in San Diego a few weeks ago. They are selling some cars at MSRP. It depends greatly on what you are looking for etc. You can always go and find out.

I have to agree, Roadshows is where I bought mine (see Zac MacRae)....me and the better half flew out, picked up our BB on Saturday stayed the night in Memphis and drove like a demon home (except through Texas....follow the speeds, they have no humor!!). It was a great trip (no kids) AND I got to check out my BB firsthand!! Good luck!

I MUST STRONGLY DISAGREE

MSRP pricing is now readily available in Southern California. Waiting lists seem to be getting shorter too. I believe South Bay MINI in Torrance (near LA) has the shortest wait in the area for custom-orders, and no markup! You may even be able to find what you want in stock on the lot.

Definitely worth doing a little research locally before going out of state!
