Offline | grand_cru fitted one and it cleared both the battery and the bonnet. See this thread starting from post #150 onwards: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...t=88988&page=8. Pictures in the post and in his gallery. |

| MINI2 Master | Like Rakey says, I have a JCW Strut brace on my Cooper. There were no modification required to fit it, I simply needed to remove the battery cover (A bit annoying I admit) There is a low profile battery cover you can buy. If you google for a "Low Profile Battery cover" there are some links for MINI Coopers. Here are some pics I took with my phone (Not brilliant quality) |

Offline | Ian, interesting that you had a different experience from grand_cru with the battery. He said his brace "only slightly touches the battery cover". In your case, would it clearly press down, and how much extra space would you have needed for clearance? |

Offline | I have also has the OMP strut brace on my mini (check gallary) and it is touching the battery case...so I am slightly worried because Cooper_Dave said his battery case cracked under turning. http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103438 I also had the sound deadening removed. Does any one know which site would sell the lowered battery casing in the UK? and is there necessary....even if it touches my battery case ever so slightly... ![]() any help would be appreciated.. |

Offline | I got it put on at Playmini, and the dealer there did take the sound deadening off becos the bonnett wouldnt close properly - we wasnt too sure and wasnt going to take the chance of slamming the bonnett shut in case we damage smth! I hope it doesnt damage the paint work too much! Does also mean there will be less heat around the engine as it gets away quicker?? |

| MINI2 Master | There did seem to be a significant amount of pressing down on the cover. You have to remember as well that the brace gets VERY hot especially under hard driving and this would potentially have started melting the cover due to direct contact. I thought I had a link to a UK seller of the low profile battery cover however I'm sure Promini could possibly ship over seas or if anyone here is in frequent correspondance with some American members, maybe a favour or two ![]() |

Offline | promini does ship it to UK but at a cost of $83 or smth like that - Maaij is thinking of splitting the delivery charge with me but it would be much better if there is a dealer in the UK that would do smth like this... |

![]() Taller Than You! | Hmmmm interesting. I have the JCW Brace fitted on my works but my bonnet closes fine however, there are marks on the brace where the deadening touches. And they dont want to come off. Is it worth me removing all the deadening from under bonnet now I have the Brace fitted? |

Offline | JCW strut brace Mine weighed 4 lbs including the shipping container. Actual weight is approx 2 lbs. Thought it would go right on out of the box. It didn't. Had to take bar off, mount each side, then adjust bar to fit. Went right on after that. It really makes the engine bay. Best eye candy so far. Karle. North Caroline. |

| MINI2 Master | Oh the bonnet (hood) closes fine and there is a bit of touching on the deadening but I've had my brace for well over 8 - 9 months now and there is no damage to the deadening so I'd leave it on. Based on the warnings of others about potential paint damage due to heat, why would you want to take it off? ![]() |
