| 220 of your finest horses | Warning! JCW Strut brace issue Guys, I recently had my JCW front strut brace off the car to fit an induction kit. The special aluminium nuts that were supplied with the kit all had cracks, splitting them literally in half. This is not good as these hold the front suspension onto the car! The nuts were never over tightened (I have a very nice torque wrench) so I can only think there was a flaw in the casting. So if you have a JCW front strut brace and it's held on with ali bolts (they have a blue plastic lock sleeve on them), please check them for cracks. Cheers S ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Hmmmmm I just spent £26 with JCW for 6 new nuts thinking I'd just fit it wrong ![]() Not having much luck with JCW stuff at the mo, just had the JCW seats fixed under warranty. So I have 4 JCW things on my car... JCW wheels...loads of problems with tyre wear ...JCW Seats...had to be fixed under warranty as rattling JCW strut brace...had to replace the buts at my own cost ![]() JCW sill covers...nothing much can go wrong with these....maybe they'll melt or discolour or something ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Id be interested to know how you torqued the nuts, as this is an area that Ive been schooled by my mentor in when building motors etc. The key being whether there is a dry or oiled nut or bolt being torqued up. I have been told to always lubricate with a dash of oil the face of contact to ensure a correct torque reading, as a dry nut or bolt will chafe as it is torqued, and it is possible to get highly varied readings and possibility of overtorquing |
