Eibachs springs problem

I've had lowered springs on my car for 12 months now - a set of Eibachs. All of a sudden the rear tyres have started rubbing the wheel arches when the car 'compresses' (goes into a sudden dip etc). WQuite annoying and probably a little detrimental to the tyres I guess.

I'm running 18" wheels and 35 section tyres. Not been a problem before though.

I suspect the standard shocks have been doing too much work over the last 12 months, and have weakened, allowing the springs to settle more than is desired.

Has anyone else had this issue, and has anyone got any suggestions, other than refitting standard springs or getting the shocks replaced. I cant afford a proper suspension package at the moment.

Hi,

As we all know you have done a number of track days so that has probably taken the toll on the springs as they get worked harder that supposed to. I'm not sure that replacing dampers is going to help that much, but they are probaly worse for wear as well.

If you dont mind me asking how many miles has the car/suspension done (+ track days), as you can take the following estimation 1 trackday mile = 10 normal road miles.

Overall milage 35k, 24 since fitting springs. 4 track days - although I drive like 'miss daisy' and never abuse the car...

i'll speak to yozza about your driving...

The milage is not excessive, so i would imagine the springs have just settled finally.
