Offline | Suspension questions and help My MCS shows up in a few weeks, and I need to start ordring the stuff for lowering, etc, so it's ready for the NOPI Nationals in Atlanta come September (it's my booth display vehicle). Eibach springs are coming, but Koni doesn't have front struts available yet, and there's no time for Koni's custom shop to build me set. Anyone know of other top quality struts that are available? I saw the Bilsteins on a site, but since I have Koni on my PT Cruiser, with Eibach's, I wanted to stick with a proven (for me) brand. I have KYB on my Contour SVT with Eibach, but they "float" too much over rolling surfaces. Suggestions? Also, going with 18 x 7 wheels and Toyo Proxes T1S that matches the overall diameter to the 17's now, so the speedo stays accurate. Will there be any fender lip problems with a 7" width? Sorry for all the questions, but I'll be cutting it close on time, and can't afford to make any mistakes. forrest@mothers.com |

Offline | Im also planning to go to the Nopi National in September. Lets see Racing Dymatic just came out with the springs which I have on order. As for the shock no opion never changed shock on anything except 4x4 off road vechicals. I went with a set of G-Racing Kyoto in a 17x7 rim with the 42mm offset it doest appear to have a fender problem yet, but I will report after I install the lowering springs. Now I did see a post from a guy who installed the Oz rims with a 37mm offset and it looked to stick just barely outside his fender well (car not lowered) just keep that in mind on the rim you choose |

| MINI2 Regular | Racing Dynamics Springs! Hey, I have those on my car! They look great, www.electrodyne.cc. The springs lowered the MINI about 40mm, and the rear wheels tuck into the fenders nicely. I do not have shocks yet, but Koni is listing MINI Cooper shocks front and rear on their web site. I have not checked with them yet as to availability. BTW. I have a second set of RD Springs I could sell for $240 plus shipping. That's about $25 off retail I think. (The springs are brand new in the box, never mounted) |

Offline | Koni... I spoke to my counterpart at Koni and he indicated due to a redesign of the front suspension back in March (when the S debuted) they had to redesign the front struts. The rears have a p/n assigned, but won't be in the US until Sept/Oct at the earliest. I'm hesitant to leave the stock struts and shocks since they're valved to work at a ride height about 40 mm higher than the Eibachs are, so there could be some ride quality issues. forrest@mothers.com Last edited by forrest : Jul 18th, 2002 at 08:10 AM. |

Offline | What size tires are you going to try and run with those 18's? I get my S in sept and would love to get as big a tire under the car as I can without clearance problems. I would like to drop it a bit as well, the 40mm looks to be a good compromise. I saw on another forum where someonewas running 18 inch rimms with 225/35 series tires. No mention of any problems tho. I will be watching this thread closely and hopefully figure this all out before sept. Anyone else have some insight? Dark Silver Cooper S premium pkg sport pkg cold weather pkg nav system alarm sys |
