Hi Kris,

It depends on how much you want to spend really!

The most popular mod is lowering springs such as Eibach, these will lower your car approx 30mm, and improve handling a bit. But, as the springs aren't matched to your dampers (shock absorbers), it's not an ideal setup, and the springs are quite "bouncy" over certain road surfaces and bumps. Also your ride will harden up a bit.

The best way would be to go for coilovers - these are a fully integrated system comprising springs AND matched damper, designed to work together. Again, Eibach are popular and make the Pro Street S coilover kit which lowers by 20-50mm on a MINI, but most of all will give a HUGE improvement in handling, it'll be like a different car. Of course, a harder ride again, but MUCH more planted to the road, MUCH less body roll, and a much tighter/sharper car generally.

Expect to pay around £120 for lowering springs, and between £650 and £1200 for one of the more popular coilover systems.
