Eibach Springs, Standard shocks.

Hello everyone, I am the owner of a cooper S 2003 model and i have installed 18" KAHN alloys and the aero body kit. Now, i am out of budget but i would still like to lower it a bit. They have recommended me the Eibach Springs.

Now my question is is it ok to install these springs with standard shocks on, how low would it go with 18" alloys and the aero kit with no having a problem, and last does anyone has the same setup or even som pictures with eibach springs only so i can have a look how it looks like? Thanks

A lot of M2ers are running Eibach springs with standard shocks with no problems. These springs tend to lower the S by about 20mm, so with 18s there shouldn't be a problem. Only thing you need to watch is the offset of your wheels, as this could cause some rubbing.

Hope that helps a little

Usually fine to fit lowered springs with standard shocks. The difference in spring rate can cause the shocks to wear out a bit faster but nothing dramatic. Eibachs can lower 20 or 30mm and depending on the offset 30mm is OK with 18s. I think that minicruiser has kahns and did have 30mm eibachs (has now swapped to full suspension kit) and ran without issues. Tonyt3 has 30mm eibachs (I think) and was running fine on 30mm...has some touching issues when loaded up now but he thinks thats because they have settled so much....closer to 40-50mm drop than the 30mm now....But I think hes had his on the car a while.

Eibach state that their springs are designed to work with standard shocks(in good condition),I have Eibach springs, standard shocks and have just fitted Eibach anti roll bars (front/rear) with 17x40x215 tyres(non runflats),BBK wheels with ET38 offset,no rubbing yet but the Aero front bumper scrapes very easily (might have to see if I can trim it a bit)
Running softest setting on rear bar at the moment.

Hello,
yes, as stated above, I'm running eibachs and 18" wheels with standard springs. Been on the car for 14 months. It seems to have 'settled' more now as its started to rub when 4 up or on very bumpy roads - and yes, the front aero bumper scrapes on everything - even had to mod it a bit by trimming the little plastic bits underneath with a dremmel so that it didnt catch on my gate latch dring into the drive!!!

I blame this on the standard shocks not being ideally matched to the springs - I think I'll need new shocks soon.

Tony how about the ride? Does the ride remains the same smooth or does it change a little bit with the springs? Does it become stiffer? Thanks.
