It's just with what grand_cru has said about people with buckled bonnets etc., it seems there's a bit of an art to make sure everything fits properly as it's a very tight squeeze!

aslong as you make sure its sitting correct before you close the bonnet you'll be fine..

the damage to the bonnet is prob the bar is turned rather than being flat causing it to stand up higer..

Got to disagree with you on this Jon.

After reading the instructions about how you should jack one side of the car up, the Strut Brace is now a whole turn longer than when I first fitted it. Steering is weightier, not sure it corners much differant, but I certainly get more "feel".

As Jon says, even with jacking one side of the car up, ANYONE could fit the strut brace.

So it's just a case of jacking one side of the car up so all the weight's on the other side, then fitting as usual?

Well I bought the strut brace "kak" was selling, but he's now been banned for "trading without sponsorship".

Let's hope I still get the damn strutbrace!!

lol...I'm not just going for that

That's if it ever arrives!!

BTW Damo: I phoned JCW yesterday and they said you don't need to raise the wheel up (as above) or anything - there seems to be a bit of confusion :|

As Lohen are fitting it (and for the benefit of others) would you mind doing a bit of a set of instructions to follow (jacking wheel up etc.) to get the correct tension etc.?

Not sure who from JCW garages told the other person on here to jack the wheel up.

There are lots of how to guides on here already, have a search And I'm sure Lohen need no instructions from me!

Mine has been fitted at JCG without lifting up any of the wheels.
And anybody can easily fit it, as long as you keep in mind limiting the torque on the 6 fitting washers to 34 Nm

grand_cru: Do you have to limit the torque on the Cooper too? I think fitting is different as the brace can't be "turned"?

Fitting both mounting plates on the struts is exectly the same for MC & MCS, and a properly fitted and thightened bar doesn 't turn around.

greetz,

Jan

Question Jcw Strutbrace Fitting.

I was reading the forums the other day and someone had a copy of the BMW fitting instructions for the JCW Strutbrace.
Can I find it now, you guessed it...NO.
Can someone kindly direct me to this as mines arriving Monday.

Cheers.

My JCW brace arrived today, whipped off the existing nuts and.........It doesn't clear the battery cover by a good 2cm (yes bar is flat!).
Took off the cover & fits fine so i've removed it now.
I believe you can buy lower covers?

There isn't one. Or at least there wasn't when I needed some. I got 6 special ordered from JCG and they were like £20+
