Handling Mods

Just started dwn the road of trying to sort the handling and the story so far...

1. Alutech front strut brace
2. Runflats out, Goodyear GSD3s in
3. Bilstein PSS9 on order
4. StopTech big brake kit (Blue) with aerorotors on order (haven't found wheels to go over them yet!!)
5. Atla 22mm rear sway bar on order
6. M7 understrut system being considered

The tires aren't run in yet as they weere fitted today so still a bit slippy! The strut bar has tighten up the turn in a lot more than expected.
I'll post the results of the rest when fitted!

Cheers Mark

Suspension Mods

Carreracat,
your set-up sounds very similiar to mine.
I went for the following:

(1) Quaife diff;
(2) 5 kg flywheel;
(3) Alta 22mm rear bar;
(4) Eibach Pro front bar;
(5)Alta drop links all round;
(6) Alta upper & lower rear control arms;
(7) Bilstein PSS9;
(8) Powerflex bushes wherever possible;
(9) P & D Camber plates;
(10) Tarox 10-pot brakes with Tarox pads & discs front & rear;
(11) Castrol SRF brake fluid;
(12) 18" OZ racing Superleggaras;
(13) Yokohama Parad Spec 2's in 215/35/18

And the handling...you better believe that it's so incredible that the tires (which are great!) are the limiting factor! You do have to keep your foot in though as the the handling's neutral to oversteering & the tail wants to joint the action in some of the 70 mph corners.

I rely on the ABS to maximise my braking at the track - never had any fade & that's including sessions of up to 45 minutes!

Very adjustable under trail-braking - you can loosen the tail under brakes & on turn-in which is great for killing understeer.

You'll love the transformation. It'll make your car a true thoroughbred!

Found the wheels - 17" OZ Ultraleggeras F1 in black. Just waiting for the brakes to arrive now!

Update:

1. Alutech front strut brace
2. Runflats out, Goodyear GSD3s in
3. Bilstein PSS9 on order - still!
4. StopTech big brake kit (Blue)
5. Atla 22mm rear sway bars
6. 17" OZ F1 Ultraleggeras (need to get rid of the Renault caps!)
7. Short shift kit
8. Clear bra (ok not a handling mod but it stops the stone chips!)

Adding unsprung mass via a big brake kit doesn't improve handling.

But it should improve brake performance. Assuming you track the car and use sticky tires. The stock brakes with stock tires easily invoke ABS.

The combined weight of the big brake kit, OZ wheels and non runflat tires adds up to much less than the original combination so hopefully I'm still ahead of the game there.
The brake performance is an amazing improvement over stock, but the ABS is still very easy to trigger.

I'm not sure whether the wheels are the same as the Megane Sport, but they look prety similar to the ones I've seen in the pictures.

I wanted the 35th anniversary OZ wheels but they would not clear the big brake kit, so I ended up with thte F1s - proabaly not a bad thing seeing as they only weigh 7 kgs!

With that parts list, it's a shame to not have camber plates as part of the setup. They make a pretty big improvement in handling.

Don't see a good alignment and corner balancing on there.

Not really parts but would be good to do.
