Offline | how low with 18's hi people i have a set of 18 inch john cooper works wheels that i'm looking at fitting on my 02 plate mini. the problem i have iis that they don't have tyre's and my car has been lowered 65 to 70 mm and am wondering if they'll fit under my wheel arches. does anyone know how low i can go and get them to fit? and what tyre size i should go for. Ths may sound stupid but i don't want to have to turn my coilovers up as i like the way the car handles and looks this low. will i be able to fit 17's this low? thanks for your knowledge. |

Offline | Hiya mate, my MINI is lowered 30-35mm on APEX springs with 18 inch wheels and i occassionally get rubbing - the wheels are a 45 offset though and i think the JCW 18 inch wheels are a 52 ofsett. In all honesty i think you would be pushing it being 70mm lowered and 18" wheels. You could try running a 215/35/18 tyre and see if you get away with it! |

Offline | ![]() how's that low enough for ya? i've had to cut on inch off the bottom of the cooper s bumper and the rear A arms now hit on the body work. it won't go any lower without serious body modifcations (cutting the floor) i don't do thing by half. also have an old vw beetle being built thats over 3 inch lower at the front and by brother drives a mk4 polo thats 85mm lower than standard. the drive shaft rubs on the inner wing. its that low it looks broke. ![]() Last edited by MINIAC : May 8th, 2007 at 11:25 PM. | GP 06 MCS 0380 | Will look stupid with the 18's on mate, they will have a greater overall diameter than even the 17's with runflats, so you'll be losing the rim behind the wheel arch, which just looks wrong. And it will be so harsh a ride. 16's are very comfortable compared to 18's ![]() |
