eBay Strut Brace

Has anyone ever bought one of these, any feedback on whether its any good or not?
Looks quite similar to the JCW one

Way too flimsy..dont bother. Compare it in looks of stegnth to either the OMP one (i have) or the GTT (the best IMO) and youll see neighter of those has joints at the strut end (the point of most pressure) Look at how they have sold mounts at the ends and that thing has a flimsy bit of metal....Its a cosmetic one...looks nice, sounds racey due to the "leightweight" etc but at the end of the day about as handy for practicle imptovement as taking a crisp packet and wrapping it round a set of loo roll tubes to make a strut brace.

Steer well clear IMO.

Stick to the sold strong looking ones. GTTs is mint...but it is pricey because its one of the best. OMPs is a bargain for 50-70 quid but not as good as Rolands. The JCW is OK but for what it is its not vary good £ for practicle. The Forge one is OK too but if your going for OK and want it cheap go for OMP

Unfortunately the GTT one is just a little too expensive for me otherwise I would take that one every time!

IIRC, the lower strut brace is the lowest point on your car, and with my car being lowered and occasionally clipping speed bumps and what not, I fear having a brace down there wouldnt be the best of ideas lol!! Thanks for the link though, he sells the upper one quite cheaply as well

The ebay link is the same people that I got my OMP lower brace from but I got mine direct through their website Strutbracer. It took about at week to arrive and I'm really happy with the results. The link posted by vigilante actually sames you about £6 over buying the pair individually from their website.

I've attached a pic of my lower brace. it sits just behind the plastic thing but it does not hang any lower. If you have a look at the one on your car and it's scratched/damaged then the lower brace probably isn't for you.

Don't forget though the bolts that hold the braces on are use once only so you'll have to visit the dealer to get some new ones. But they are less than £2 for the lower ones, The guy in parts that I spoke to couldn't be bothered to charge for mine and just sent them out, result!

Hi Nick,

Leave it a wee bit longer - save up & buy the GTT strut brace - you won't be disappointed trust me!

I don't have the annoying creaks & groans from the dashboard since I fitted mine

Cheers,

Al

I got those eBay strut bars on my Cooper (front and rear strut bars). They are easy to install (about 30 minutes each) and the front bar works ok with the battery cover.

Actually, you can feel the difference with and without them on, but they are not so "stiff" as they say. The front strut brace is a bit "elastic", but it works fine on 90º turns.

Maybe the OMP or Sparco strut braces are much better, but these ones are cheaper !!
