Offline | GTT Strut Brace on my Cooper Hi, If you haven't got one of these amazing Strut braces from Roland at GTT all I can say is don't hesitate. Ordered one for my Cooper Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning it was on the doorstep, top service. Fitted at lunchtime today and had top go for a quick blat around the chiltern hills finest twisty roads and the only disappointment was I wish I had fitted this ages ago. Fits a treat with the battery cover removed, no bulging bonnet marks and holes line up perfect. And the finish of the brace (Patina) is superb. It also looks like the annoying dash creak I've been trying to eliminate for the past 18 months has finally vanished. Goes to show how much flexing was going on especially with the 17" runflats on Eibach lowered springs and SS+ !! I'm waiting on the cutout battery cover from ProMINI to be delivered in the next couple of days which hopefully will fit a treat under the brace. Will post some pics when the cover turns up. Thanks again Roland, Colin. |

Offline | No it won't fit, and you'll have to make the slot wider. Look here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/gt-tuning...ml#post3232677 (post #217 to 221). Edit: Ooops, those were also REDHOT CHILLI COOPER's posts in the other thread. I didn't notice the first post here was old. Anyway, pics in the other thread fitted on a Cooper. |

Offline | I've managed to make up the tray to fit on the cover making it water proof. Doesn't look any different to the first pics I posted with the battery cover cut out other than obviously you cannot see the battery through the strut brace webbing. Had to cut out the slot wider by about another 15mm top end and 25mm along the bottom end. The slot is about 20mm deep. I used some 15x15mm black plastic edging (right angled 90') along the edges to finish it off and filled in the middle with black 1mm plasticard. Fits a treat and looks like it's meant to be there. I'll charge the camera and take some pics this week (like I promised before ). |

Offline | Looks good, and you say it's fully water-tight? ![]() How easy is that for, say.... an accident-prone, previously electrocuted, fire-hazard numpty like me to reproduce what you've done? ![]() * * * * * NeuroBeaker Proud owner of "Zeus" (a 'slightly modified' 2004 Mini ONE). |

Offline | Yeah it's fully water tight, I sealed it from the inside with a tube of industrial mastic, believe or not it's actually called "Sticks Like *****"..... no kidding. I'm sure you could do it. Buy yourself a second hand cover, mark it up against the strut brace in situ, and cut the section out slowly with a large hacksaw or better still treat yourself to a Dremel. Great little tool for this type of job. Then get some 15mm plastic angle from B&Q for the edges and some 1mm plasticard for the tray bottom, from a good model shop or Fleabay. Easy to cut with a stanley knife. Bond the tray together with super glue to hold in position then seal the tray to the lid from underneath with the mastic. No Electrickery or fire involved ![]() .By the way I like you avater. |
