OMP Strut Brace ??

Hey all, I am gonna get me an OMP strut brace for xmas,

I wil prob end up getting it on ebay so the after sales service will be poor, I just need to check to see if it will fit the car without me having to mess with the battery cover. And will the bonnet close ok??

If anyone has one of these and can answer, I would be grateful.

I have the OMP Upper brace fitted and the closure of the bonnet is a little un-aligned but its due to the bonnet linning and can be sorted if you soak the part were it touches with water and close the bonnet then it will look ok!

as far as im aware this will fit fine with the standard airbox.

hmm, thanks for the reply. Bonnet being out of alignment will bother the hell out of me. I have read about spraying hairspray on the lining but I dont really want to do anything too intensive because the car is going in for a new gearbox in the new year. . . . .

TBH its notmuch at all, and i read that hairspray idea! Im fussy aswel but it really isnt notciable unless you look for it, its maybe a few mm at most.

so how about fitting these things then?? is it just a few bolts out then back in?

When removing the strut bolts does the suspension fall out??? Lol, what I mean is do they secure anything that I need to hold onto before removing??!

Its 2 nuts from each strut. Open your bonnet and you will see three small nuts on top of each strut. Unwind the required ones place the brace in place, wind the adjuster nut in the centre of the brace until the fit is just right and everything is locked in place, then wind the 2 nuts from each side back on. Job done.

I just closed the bonnet and it was a little out. Just keep pushing on the top and gradually the brace presses a grove into the lining on the underside. After 12 months my bonnet sits just perfect and closes without issue.

Only way struts might move is if the front of the car was in the air/wheels off ground. This job is done with the car parked up not jacked up. Also try to ensure its on the level before starting, because although it should make any real difference, its always best to be sure.
