pre 02/02 vs post 03/02 mini suspension

hi,
i've got a 01/2002 mini cooper (non S), and i've noticed there is a difference between the suspension set up as compared to post 03/2002 models...
If there is a thread on this could someone please tell me... i've tried searching but haven't been able to find anything.
Now i was wondering if there was any difference performance wise? and why did they end up changing it?
Also from memory when i changed the springs i remember that one of the connections was in a different location but cant remember which one....=/... may have been the sway bar link.....
i have also noticed that the springs themselves look quite different... which i am assuming would mean they would behave differently.

cheers
Jono

Try searching "Left Pull" in faults and fixes early cars were afflicted with comedy steering and a lot had new different front struts that became the norm afterwards.

hi,
thanks for the reply, so i guess the left pull was the reason for the change?
i myself have never had any problems with a pull which wasn't fixed with a wheel alignment, but i must say it is very sensitive to the camber of the road!
but just out of curiosity does anyone know if they performed differently (apart from the pulling in some?)

Cant remember any massive handling improvement after I had my 02 Mini One sorted except for not going round in big circles any more. Cant say there was any degradation either for that matter. The left pull was pretty chronic in mine so its hard to be subjective on the earlier model of suspension.

Hello. I also have a 01/2002 Cooper, and surprisingly it has the sway bar links on the shock body, not on the spring seat. So that means that i should get springs for cars made after 02/2002? I noticed all companies offer different springs for vehicles before and after 02/2002.
