Offline | Lowering advice........please. Morning folks, I collected my 2005 's' on thursday and am now looking to lower it as i find it sits slightly too high. Is my best bet to get a new set of springs or will i need to get new shocks to ?? I don't want to spend massive ammounts of cash. Am i right in thinking that coilovers aren't necessary for everyday driving and generally are of benefit when doing track days etc ? I'm not bothered about having it slammed to the floor just a nice drop so the wheels sit nicely in the arches, i've got R91 5-spoke bullet alloys by the way. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Blakey |

| Back To My Old Self | Most people go for a set of springs and keep the stock dampers. Most common spring is probably the Eibach Pro Street, sold by most MINI tuning specialists, check out the sponsors directory. Lowering with springs only will get you about a 30mm drop. ![]() |

| Back To My Old Self | If you're sticking with the bullets then rubbing shouldn't be an issue at all genrally. Unless of course you drive around with a car full of kids and lugguage, then you may get some problems. Not something I've ever doen so difficult to comment. ![]() |

Offline | Just remember that Eibach springs sink a little further as time goes on. I remember TonyT3 saying about this at Poole Quay like 2 years ago, that his went really low after a while. ![]() |

Offline | I got the eibach springs for upto 40mm drop apparantly and mine dropped about 43mm on 18x7.5 wheels. No rubbing with just me in the car and no rubbing with the car full of people lol it just sits very very low. Depends on the offset of the wheels, i think mine are et42/43. I have no regrets and the car is not slammed by any means. Check out my gallery for some pictures if you want. Hope this helped a bit. ![]() |

Offline | Well coz it squats low and wide (it looks really fat), you just have to avoid the slow lane, as otherwise you can't get out it. It is a harder ride and you do feel the bumps, so much so that i am changing my head unit to the new Alpine IDA 200 to avoid skipping (IPOD Only no CD) But it looks awesome and handles wickedly. Plus with Toyo Proxie 4's it sticks to the road like toffee |

| Back To My Old Self | Captint, You really shouldn't be getting the problems you describe in my opinion. Ride in my car with Eibachs, 18's and non runflats is easily comparable to when I ran 17s and run flats. It's definately no worse. And this set up has never tramlined once, even under braking. ![]() |
