Problems after fitting strut brace

I have just fitted my brand new omp upper strut brace.

I am now having problmes closing the bonnet, I can get the bonnet to close with force but then the shut lines are not correct on the bonnet and it looks out of place.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I've seen that on a couple of cars with the OMP top strut brace.... the bonnet sits a bit higher than usual at the back right-hand shut line.

You get what you pay for at the end of the day, and thats one of the reasons why its much cheaper than offerings from other manufacturers.

Yep mine did.

Check the tension on the adjuster section in the bar, too much can cause the strut to bow upwards more than it needs to to hold the struts apart....thus hitting the bonnet more than normal. The OMP does however cause this shut line to be prominant for a few months....gradually the opening and shutting onto the bar pushes the heat padding on the bonnet in and allows the shut line to close up a bit again....so it does not look too bad

Like above though it is cheap for a reason .... The fit is not the best but it does work OK, made a difference to my car, although I have driven cars with other brands on and 1 in particular was great ... but mucho expensive!

I tried all sorts of adjustments on the bar and i still was not happy with it.

I am suprised these omp ones are like this as i have had them fitted on 3 of my other cars before and they where perfect.

Hopefully will get money back from tweeks on friday, then can order the gtt upper and lower braces.

Many of the bars push the bonnet up a bit. You can fix this but soaking the lining and then closing the bonnet so the lining conforms to the bar.

Mine was like this for the first few days!! I fitted it last wednesday and after a few hundred miles the sound deadening has turned to the shape of the strut brace and the bonnet shuts fine now!! It also makes a nice difference for cornering!! 1 thing you may want to note is that is you get a GTT strut brace you will have to modify your battery cover for it to fit unless you have a Cooper S then it should be fine!!
