Offline | Is anyone aware of any Magnetorheologial (MR) dampers (and other requisite hardware, i.e. wheel position sensors, controller, etc.) that can be retrofitted to a MINI? I've had the priviledge of working with them a lot over the past couple of years on some , and it's phenominal what they are capable of. I'd love to have the ability to play with MR on the MINI, but haven't had much luck finding anything on the aftermarket. 2003 IB/W MCS |

Offline | MR Suspensions It's pretty sweet stuff. I helped develop them for some GM applications, and the ability to play around with tuning is fantastic. From virtually no damping to rock-solid within 10 milliseconds. The Mini already has a lot of the required parts if you get DSC (wheel speed, vehicle speed, steering wheel angle, yaw rate, lateral acceleration) so I can't imagine it being too difficult to mount wheel position sensors and from there being able to rig up a controls system and go from there. The problem is getting shocks/struts with the correct Mini wheel travel. 2003 IB/W MCS |

Offline | If my memory serves me correct, I thought I read that OHLINs was developing some sort of computer controlled magnetorheological dampening, stabibilzer, etc.. system. The 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary will be equipped standard with a similar system. And all other coupes and hatches will have it optional. It's called "F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control" suspension. VERY cool stuff. MCS IB/IB, SPRT, PREM, Aero kit, RE90s |

Offline | Never heard of this stuff but it sounds neat ...At a bit of a tangent, maybe they could put magnets under the road surface to improve grip of motor vehicles...??? Cooper S, Jet Black w/ white roof, silver 16" X-Lite wheels, DSC, MFSW, dark tinted windows ...It's here & I love it! |
