Smile Ground control coilovers soon.

i was just on the ground control website. they are testing the coilover system for the mini, nice huh! they come with eibach springs, pretty neat! now, here's my question. they probably will be around $350-399, and can fit on original shocks. i wanted to get the full spax rsx kit which cost around 1,100 bucks. are the ground control the same thing? or are the spax just much better? i want quality and looks. spax, or ground control? *which fit on original shocks* HELP!?

i thought "coilover" meant a shock/spring combination, suitably designed together. You may be pricing the springs only.

the ground controls i've seen for other cars are a spring and threaded perch combo designed to go on stock or other shocks. the threaded perch allows for height change and corner-weighting and different rate springs are available.

jlm.......the ground control consists of a threaded perch, which allows to adjust the ride hight. no after market shock is needed. i don't know if i should get just that, or the spax spring/shock combo. but they both seem to be good products. anyone with ground control experience?

I have used them in the past and recently put a track kit on my friends BMW M-Coupe.... that I co-drive in autocross events.... great stuff IMHO.... as a plus you can use the GC kit on your stock shocks (which I have heard are very good for oem units) and then when they start to go south.. you can move up to koni/spax/tokico units.... Also the GC units use standard 2.5"dia. race springs so you can use any rate you want... from sporty street to kidney busting track ready stiff.... Not to be biased though I had a spax kit (not coil overs) on my old GTI Vr6 and was happy with it too....

sounds good jason. i had GC on my honda civic Si, and it was dropped like 3 1/2 inches, so my kidneys were hurtin'! but since the GC kit for the mini is till in developement, i don't know if i want to wait for it. so i might get the spax rsx coilover kit *double the amount more* but thanks for the news on the bmw.
