Offline | Mini Suspension - some may think I am taking a step back. Hiya I have a New Mini Cooper S - which came with the Sports Suspension kit / 17" alloys and the Run Flat tyres. My wife finds the ride just a little too bumpy - and with hopes of little ones I am trying to see what the best solution to make the ride a little more gentler is. Are you able to make a recommendation as to what the best compromise between comfort / handling would be? Cheers Stu ![]() |

Offline | Ditch the 17s. You sound like you might want to keep the run flats. If not then non run flats help. Check you tire pressure. With both of you and no real load in the back. You can probably run 33 Front and 30 Rear safely and keep an eye on tire wear. |

Offline | I certainly understand where you are coming from. My wife doesn't want a harsh ride either. The runflats are much harsher of a ride than standard tires. You could put on a set of new tires for around $400-500. This is probaly the best option, but then your screwed if you have a flat. If you want to keep the run flats, see if you can find MC springs. They will raise the car 8mm, and have a slightly different spring rate...softer. Make sure they are around the same year as your car though. I'm sure you'll find some here. In fact I may have some for and 2004 MC. I'm planning on installing H-sport springs next week. |

Offline | I have the 16" X-lites w/run-flats for my summer tire and the 15" 7-hole w/non-run-flats for the winter. The 15" wheels with non-run-flats definitely offer a smoother ride. I would try the tire change first. Get some 16" wheels with non-run-flat tires. If flats are a worry, just carry a tube of "Slime" and a small compressor in the boot. That is what I do in the winter. I will be replacing my run-flats with non-rfs this coming spring as I want a tire with more stick. Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!! '06 MCS SB/S '02 MCS DS/W (retired) |
