Breaking News! The beast is running!

Excited like a child!!!!

Im very proud to announce the latest labour of love!

The countless hours of hidden work and secret goings on at ThinkMini have now all come together and the beast is running!

Im sure a few folks saw the pics of Bert with his engine removed a few months back..

He is now running his fully rebuilt Audi VAG 1.8T unit and uprated turbo, I opted for the TT gearbox to allow fitment of the rear wheel drive at a later date, the rear Z3 arms are mated to mini front wheel bearings and with the battery box removed locating the diff is now possible.

But back up front the conversion has been easier than first thought, the TT shares a lot of its layout with the mini and having the ECU coding for the audi unit made matching it to the minis body control unit possible

As for power the unit should be upto 400bhp if correctly controlled, but for now its running enough with the stock vag maps.

Sorry for the rushed post, I have been up for 48 hours desperate to hear her run! now its time for bed!!

Pics coming when Im back in the morning and then the road test
