United-Kingdom Is MINI SatNav any good?

Does anyone have factory fitted SatNav?

I've always bought 3rd party units and stuck them on the dashboard, but when the 2014 Convertible becomes available I'm considering going factory fitted (less clutter).

What I'm thinking about is Map updates, Real time traffic and re-routing, and Speed camera data (My expectations of a 3rd party unit). Does MINI SatNav have these?

Cheers

Not sure about Mini Satnav but we have a 2013 BMW X3 and that's pretty good.
The updates are usually annually released and installed by the dealer, probably an extra cost option, but we've not had to get an update yet as we've only had it a month.

As far as I know, BMW don't provide speed camera data on their Nav systems but it can be added with 3rd party software (beware of warranty issues though)
Real time traffic and rerouting are part of the Professional Nav system, haven't really explored them too much as yet though.

Of course all this may be of no use to you as the Mini Nav may be completely different from other BMWs!

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. It's going to be a while before I can buy my next MINI as the convertible is always launched quite a bit after the hatch, so I guess I've got lots of time to wander in and interrogate a sales person

Cheers,

Jon

Pop in and have a chat, they have Mini Genius's now (like the ones in the apple store) to talk you through all things mini.

I'm sure when I popped in they mentioned that the Nav does tell you about speed cameras, and you can also search for places to eat etc. too. But I could be mistaken.
