Offline | Isle of Wight Run - 12/13/14th Sept 2008! Due to immense pressure MINJO and MICO1 are proud to annonunce...... NEXT YEAR'S BASH!! 12, 13, and 14th of September 2008 Watch out for.... Bingo! Fish and Chips! A live band The Sharks! Marquee fun! An all day run wiv lots of posing and photo shoots! Tent decorating comp - well we know what we're up against now! Quiz! Grand company! Tummy aching laughing! Sound surrond snoring! All in aid of Charity - do some good while having extreme pleasure of the dangerous sort! [ Please note folks - we are 'capping' the numbers at 60 cars - we have been to bigger runs that are so big they become much less friendly and more 'cliquey' and we don't want that now do we? So if you have not already done so book that place now! Do you recall last years mini run? Driving along sweeping cliff top roads, touring the whole of the island, rural areas as well as small towns, the beaches, the downs, the quaint little villages, the BBQ, the fantastic lunch organised by isle of Wight College students, the beautiful campsite nestled in a gorgeous valley, the log fires, the comradeship and new friendships formed. Do you want a repeat? Then book your place here now…… The Isle of Wight, as many of you are aware has many fabulous roads for driving on. Here are six amazing reasons to join us on this run: 1. The long costal military road – a cliff top drive of approx 15 miles that is virtually straight with fabulous views. 2. Hundreds of tiny rural roads that twist and turn and enable you to put your mini through its paces. 3. The infamous Zig Zag road at Ventnor, pretend you’re at Monte Carlo (Lol!) 4. Steep climbs up downs where we can stop for photo shoots with fabulous views as backdrops! 5. The fantastic company and lots of new friends to be made – that is why we keep it small! Friday night: Arrive at campsite and set up your tent. Click on the link for information and to book campsite (advised). ***Campsite details to be Stoats Farm - West Wight Camping The cost of the camping for two nights with Mini and tent for two people is approx. £10 If you really can’t bear the thought of camping then there is a hotel right next door to the camp site : Highdown Inn, Isle of Wight Loads of Hotels and B& B s in Freshwater itself (do a google search) or the Travel Inn at Newport: (14 miles away) Hotel information - cheap budget hotel rooms - Premier Inn Order a Chinese through us (menu to be pubished later – fits in with fancy dress theme or provide own food for this night, a communal campfire will be lit for a good community chin wag opportunity! …. but we promise not to make you sing “Kum by Ya”! Saturday: M The mini run itself – all on board for the thrill of the roller coast (well you know what the Isle of Wight roads are like!!) Mini run leaves at 10:30am Lunch, we hope, will be provided by Isle of Wight College catering Students*: buffet style cost to be around £5 At least three other stops planned for in lovely places, plenty of time for photos and chatting! Back at campsite 4 – 5pm Saturday night: Cook Your own BBQ just supply charcoal and food, sit round the campfire and listen to the live band “The Sharks’. Follwed by more campfire and marquee frolicks Sunday: Sit back and relax! If you are interested in staying on the Island for the day we can sort out a pub lunch as a group. Let us know and we can book somewhere like ‘The Folly’, a fantastic waterside pub that is infamous for its menu and location. (Prices: £7– 15) or another similar pub. All popular pubs on the island get very busy so we need to book in advance! Decorate your Tent: For a great prize! The theme is the Olympics – so you can dress up your tent (and yourselves ) as a sorting event or a country or whatever else appeals to you! Travel: There are two companies running car ferry services to the Isle of Wight: Red Funnel run from Southampton – East Cowes Red Funnel - Gateway to the Isle of Wight and Isle of Wight Ferries (current price they are quoting is £57.50 based on two in a car; day return £32:98) Wight Link run from Portsmouth – Fishbourne and Lymington – Yarmouth Official Wightlink Site for Isle of Wight Ferries ; Online Bookings ( Current price they are quoting £71 based on two in a car; day return £46.60) Ferries do get booked up – so we advise you book once you have decided to come! The cost of a weekend return is usually fairly expensive £50 – £100 – so look out for special offers on their websites or ring the companies and ask what they can offer. Directions to campsite from ferry terminals will be posted here, as of course will run details – so watch this space! Interested? Please post below your interest, whether you will come for the whole weekend or just one day, how many there are in your mini, and if you are camping or not. Isle of Wight MINI run! Offline | I maybe interested in this, do we have any further details, i.e. is it a 2 night stop over or 3 night? Are we travelling over on the 12th and back on the 14th? Also any idea how much it costs for a camping spot and the ferry costs? Sorry for all the questions :-) |
