I should'nt have any problems spotting your mini in the carpark then hopefully see you there if my navigational skills don't let me down!

Pleased to see BMW are also on the BMOC website "IMM 2009 Mini 50" list of event sponsors here (see MINI & Mini logos) :-
Sponsors

BMW were also one of the main sponsors last year at the IMM 2008 in the Netherlands (see MINI & Mini logos) :-
imm2008.org

Quote from the Dutch Mini Club website:-
"An IMM is no longer a low budget event for the organizing club and it is hard to keep a promise to organize a low budget event for all participants. Therefore I would like to thank our sponsors who did help us out on the financial side. The biggest change since a few years is that MINI as manufacturer has become one of the main supporters. In our opinion it is a good thing that the manufacturer is interested in these kind of club events. It keeps the club scene alive and financially possible."

Been in touch with MINI United about a GP display, gathering or get together at Silverstone and had a reply
They are still in the planning phase
So got to be patient
This could be the biggest gathering yet

Have just got some answers from the "MINIUnited Team" to some questions I emailed them a while back.................

thank you for your email. Here are the answer to your questions.

Q. Who are the 'British Motor Corporation' who issue trade licences for trade stands that you mentioned on your blog?
Are they only selling the BMW corporate stuff.............
Will other Mini traders be allowed, like at Mini 40 Silverstone in 1989 ?

A. >> There will be traders that are official license takers from the British Motor Heritage BMH. No other traders are allowed.

Q. How do you get a Mini Club stand for owner enthusiast displays?

A. >> Please send us exact contact details and the name of the Mini Club. We will be glad to get in contact with you regarding the MINI Club display.

Q. Is there a pre-booked concours show? How do you enter your Mini/MINI?

A >> At http://www.miniunited.com/beauty-parking-competition you may join the beauty-parking-competition to maybe get a place for your mini.

Best regards

Your
MINIUnited Team

Well this at least suggests that things are moving forwards! I have had zero response to my inquiries about a possible attempt to smash the world record for a single-marque convoy.......

Not here much any more

This is the reply I have just given in the other thread if it is any help!

We have been to both of the previous Uniteds, 2005 in Misano, Italy and 2007 in Zandvoort and the £35 is money well spent. Admittedly in 2005 we were given our 30 euros back in food tokens so the ticket effectively cost us nothing, but in Zandvoort we definitely got a lot for our money.

It is 3 days of solid entertainment long into the night and in Zandvoort also included a ride in one of the German MINI Challenge cars with the driver (the best, I would have happily paid the whole ticket price just for that!!!), taking our own MINIs round the track, a slalom testing out flat run flats in a cabrio, driver training (although there was an extra cost for that if I remember rightly), test driving MINIs around the local town and in Misano even including roller blading round the track in the pitch black (probably not acceptalbe under Health and Safety in the UK!) etc etc.

My feeling is BMW dont get to spend money on us too often so we should make the most of it!!! UK now have a lot of expectations to live up to!

I just found out that I have received a fellowship to learn about the history of the Mini (and MINI) this will give me the chance to attend MINI United and spend about 3 weeks in England. Any ideas or suggestions on things I should see or do? I'm staying outside of Banbury and am looking forward to putting it all together. Any ideas are appreciated, I look forward to seeing everyone in May.

Sally,

Sorry but I have been "off the boards" for a while. Jesse & I will be coming from California and will be staying at the Travelodge at Silverstone. We will be renting a MINI. We will be arriving early May 15 an dtaking the L2B run with KAES MC on the 17th. Then off to Silverstone for MU. Hopefully we can meet up and help. Drop me a PM or email norm@redwoodempiremini.com.

I may be in the Oxford plant tour on friday at 11 am.. but I havent heard back yet. If I am in the tour, is anyone going to Oxford from the Silverstone area that morning? I think there is a bus I could take, but Id rather arrive in a MINI!

How on earth do people get things like this - never happens to me!!!! Will your study focus on the manufacturing, or on the social impact of Mini and MINI?
