England Blackpool Illumination run

Does anyone know of any runs that are going to the illuminations ?
If not why don't we organise one.

There's a run on October 15th, organized by TAPS mini club.
www.touringallpointsminis.com for info. Link at top of page.

there has been on in the past, can't remember who organised it, but there were some issues on start and end points etc...

If you have a search I am sure that you might find some of the old threads

There is one on the 15th October, don't know if it is the same as that mentioned above, but see minicoopered.com It has been on the radio too and apparently there are quite a few going, new and old. Meeting at 6pm in Bispham. You can register online beforehand, which might be worth doing in case they get a lot turning up on the night. According to the radio there are already 60 cars!!!!! Look out Blackpool

That would be me.......

The biggest logistical problem with doing the illuminations is traffic.

I researched this properly when I did my run back in 2003.

My original plan was to park up on the prom by the north pier. The council / police ut paidd to that by throwing red tape everywhere.

Eventually we met at the Red Lion in Bispham, and went from there.

We were advised to go north to south on the prom as going the opposite way means you hit the traffic bigtime.

The evening we did the run, the radio was quoting 3 hrs to go south to north.

The best route is to just do the illuminations on your own, the hassle of trying to keep 30 odd cars together is more than it's worth TBH.
