Central VA MINICCA first event announcement

I am pasting the email I just sent to a group of MINI folks in Virginia in case there are some new folks on the board that haven't emailed me that they're interested in the club........

Hi everyone -

This message is going out to all those who have expressed interest in forming/joining a central VA MINI club. I am also copying our friends in NoVA who are putting together a chapter of the MINICCA up there - we'd love to have some folks from NoVA make the trip to Richmond for our first outing.

I trust you are all having many smiles motoring around central Virginia. I know I had my share of smiles today - I picked up my MINI Cooper S at Crown MINI of Richmond around noon today. It's a Dark Silver with white top, Sports and Premium Packages with Blue Lapis Leather. I'm trying to find a good license plate that's still available. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Now that I've Got MINI, I thought it would be a great time to plan our first get together as a club. It would be a great chance to get to know each other, talk about what we all want out of a club and of course, take a drive in the twisties.

So, we will meet on Saturday morning, July 13th 9:30 am at the Richmond MINI dealer on West Broad Street for coffee and we'll depart at 10am for a drive of about an hour and a half on back country roads before returning to somewhere close to the dealership for lunch where we can talk about how to get the club going. Any suggestions for lunch? I always like Mio's in Innsbrook - relatively inexpensive good food with a varied menu. But open to other places. Figure we'll be done with lunch around 1pm.

I'll be motoring with my wife, Ellen, and possibly our two kids so bring the family and/or friends. Don't forget your cameras either.

Finally, I'd love to hear your suggestions for roads we might want to motor on. The less traffic and the twistier, the better. From Crown MINI that probably means heading in a Northwest direction somewhere.

Please RSVP whether you can make it and how many motorers including yourself you will be bringing along.

Everyone enjoy your 4th of July and I look forward to meeting as many of you as can make it on the 13th of July at 9:30am for the very first meeting of our new MINI club.

Here are directions:

From points south:
- Take I-95 North through Richmond
- Take exit for I-64 West towards Charlottesville
- Take the exit for Parham Road NORTH
- At the 3rd light, turn left onto West Broad Street
- Drive about 1/2 mile (or less)
- Crown MINI is on the right!

From points east:
- Take I-64 West to I-95 North
- Take I-95 North through Richmond for 3 or 4 miles
- Pick up I-64 West again
- Take the exit for Parham Road NORTH
- At the 3rd light, turn left onto West Broad Street
- Drive about 1/2 mile (or less)
- Crown MINI is on the right!

From points west:
- Take I-64 East
- Take the exit for Parham Road NORTH
- At the 3rd light, turn left onto West Broad Street
- Drive about 1/2 mile (or less)
- Crown MINI is on the right!

From points north:
- Take I-95 South
- Take exit for I-295 Charlottesville (exit 84B)
- Follow it for 5 or 6 miles until you reach I-64

It was great running into you and your clutch of S2000s! I only wish I had thought fast enough to run out and get a picture of all the beautiful cars together.

Hubby and I are planning on attending the Richmond meet on Saturday. Thanks for changing the time, it gives us a litte more sleep before driving.

TomN - Come on now! A drive down to Richmond would be great Motoring. In fact, posted on Roadfly, there is a group meeting early Saturday morning in Alexandria to drive down together.

In any case folks, It looks as if I'm finally getting my car tonight so count me in for Richmond this Saturday! I'll probably be motoring with my wife.
