Northumberland Run - Interested?

Righty, earlier this year me and villa mini were discussing a potential run around the Northumbrian coastal area.

This would involve a nice drive up a little bit of A1/A19 (from newcastle) then from Wooler head north along some lovely scenic roads, then along the lovely quiet roads through a few small villages back to the coast to Holy Island then to Bamburgh Castle and on to Sea Houses then back home (or newcastle for a social )

This thread is just to see if there would be enough interest generated to warrent something like this for next springtime. I know most m2 members are from daaaaan saaaarf so may be scared to venture this far up norf

Anyhow, I'm willing to organise (or with a little help from villa mini *wink* *wink* *hint* *hint*) this run for everyone to enjoy!

there were plans afoot to re-run the hadrians wall route but i'm sure we could hash the 2 together somehow......

sounds like a plan...maybes miss off the boring a19/a1 bits and intergrate a hadrians wall bit to get us up towards the cheesypits (cheviots)

nothing definate yet, but id imagine Sunday 5th/12th of March or Sunday 2nd of April, start of springtime.

The thing is, weather up our way can be a bit unpredicatble, so the winter may take longer to lift/clear than normal.

We shall sort official dates if this potential run gains enough support.

thanks matty just checked i could only do the 12 th of march as i,m nightshift for the other two .but if its the 12 th count me in mate

sounds good to me, there are loads of great empty roads up there & i'd love to go on another run in the area

Glad we can tempt you hat...as for the empty roads, I plan to spend a full day driving for the recce, maybes people who want to scout about fancy it?

We'll make it a photoshoot day too.

i'd be up for it, as by then i will hopefully have my mini.

i went to view a couple of cars today. 2 coopers at bedlington motors and one at ccn (ponteland road).

think the 03 cooper at ccn could be a goer.

Nah, there will be somewhere for food along the route, all will be scouted on a recce (you have no choice now laura & ...u have to come (dave in tow too).

give it a chance there's no definate date yet, when there's one of them & it gets closer it might pick up a bit
