Thumbs up Italian Job Charity Run October 2006

Entry for this years run is now open
Proceeds go to the NCH childrens charity. So far the event has raised nearly 2 million pounds for charity
This is a great event which I have taken part in for over 10 years. You get to drive around Europe visiting many fantastic places & also take part in the regularity drive (a road rally thats not about speed but navigational & timing accuracy)
Please see this thread for an idea of what went on last year http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...hlight=italian

Details of this years run;
Travel to Venice by your own route (ferry across chanel included in entry)
Oct 26th; Optional early arrival at Holiday Inn Venice East
Oct 27th; AM registration at hotel, Cruise to small island in lagoon, lunch on board, afternoon & dinner at leisure in Venice, Return to hotel by train
Oct 28th; Full day navigational rally possibly including special stages at a local racing circuit, lunch on route, dinner at hotel, italian job auction
Oct 29th; Full day navigational rally following the wine route, luncheon, farewell dinner at hotel & evening at piano bar
Oct 30th; Drive to pit stop for luncheon & special stages before arriving at the Regina Palace hotel in Stresa, Dinner
Oct 31st; Rally & special stages around Stresa, luncheon, drive to Turin (Meridien Hotel), evening & dinner at leisure.
Nov 1st; Rally around Turin & a lap or two of the Lingotto, dinner at an exclusive venue
Optional route & hotels on route to England, before the gala dinner.
As you can see above part of the provisional itinery is a lap or two of the Lingotto - this is the famous roof top test track of the old Fiat factory with the massive banked curves as used in the original Italian Job film

Please see www.italianjob.com for details of how to enter

This is a fantastic event - possibly the ultimate MINI adventure. We did it last year and it really was the experience of a lifetime. To top it all, it also raises a shed load of money for NCH

Sadly we can't do it this year but we have pencilled in 2007 for a return (I'm even tempted to do it in a classic, but mikey keeps warning me off!)

If you fancy giving it a go I wholeheartedly recommend it. If you are unsure and want to chat about it, send me a PM with your number and I'll happily give you a call.

Go on, you know you want to...

We are seriously considering taking part in this years event. We are going to be e mailing an interest tonight and have already put two weeks annual leave aside at work. I also think this will be a great way to celebrate my 40th birthday and if I can arrange it, we will be leaving early for the Venice start point for Jax and I to tie the knot!

If anyone can give us any positve or other wise feedback on the event and getting sponsorship etc it would be most appriciated

Just got our Run pack etc with our team No. ( 41 ) in the post today.

Looks like a fantastic itinery this year. Think we will have to invest in some new posh clothes looking at some of the hotels we will be staying at.

Jax reckons she hasn't been so excited since she was a kid!

Anyone else on Mini2 signed up for this years event yet?

always wanted to do this run since I first had a mini, even more so since I heard your tales about it and saw you pictures

Could 2007 be the big MINI2 turn out for the event?

My mate and I have decided today we're going to take the plunge.

So far, work have agreed to sponsor entry fee and fuel and of course manage without my hard work (ahem) while I'm away.

Sounds like an amazing experience, I'm excited already.....

Phil
