I think it would be a hoot...let's get together somewhere off of the Beltway (695) and circumnavigate the city with one lap (approx 26 miles me thinks). Respond with what days and times this will work for you.

Lived for a short time in Silver Spring and worked in Alexandrea. This was back in 87-88 or so. I recall some pretty serious beltway racing in the early morning hours. Not that I would have ever had anything to do with that sort of activity.

If foreigners from VA are welcome, hubby and I might make it. We like to drive up and visit Potomac Mills regularly anyway, it would be fun to combine a shopping trip with a Beltway drive.
We can only get up there on the weekends, and prefer Saturdays.
April,
I can only speak for myself, but I would be more than happy if some of our southern cousins came on up for a good time. Just remember to set aside enough time to spend some time at Potomac Mills...

Sure...everybody's welcome. Let's meet at Towson MINI next Saturday, August 10th, at 10:00. It's an easy place to leave from, and get everybody onto the Beltway at the same time. Y9ou can get directions from their website or go to mapquest and use this address: 700 Kenilworth Drive, Towson Maryland 21204.
I'll have my cell phone on that morning should you get lost (410)913-5664

Ken,
I will will be there. I will have to check with my duaghter to see if I will be allowed to use my cell phone for the day. I purchased my MINI from there so I know the place well. In fact, I might even make an appointment to get the first oil change.
April,
Hope you make it up, looking forward to seeing the green interior.

Nah...the Capitol Beltway (495 DC) is a mess. Let's keep this one to the Baltimore Beltway (695). After we do our lap, I'll lead the group to Angelina's for crabcake lunch. It's pretty close to Towson MINI and was voted "Baltimore's Best" crabcakes by Baltimore Magazine. I'll print up directions just in case we get seperated after returning to Towson MINI.

I've written to Brett Sholder (GM at Towson) telling him about our "adventure". I said he could see it as a PR thing and provide goodies, media, etc. ,or get a shot gun and relegate us to Kenilworth Ave. in front of the dealership. I've also let the Baltimore Yahoo group (9 members) know.
The plan is to leave at 10:00 (so don't be late...or if you're close, call me at 410-913-5664 ...my cell will be on at the dealership...to say "I"M COMING!!!). We'll go down Keniworth to Charles to the Beltway (695)...head East towards Essex, cross the Key Bridge ($1), and end up at Loch Raven Reservoir...upper level about a mile beyond the dam, for a photo shoot. Then on to Angelina's for crabcakes. I'm calling Angelina's today to verify that possibility.
We'll keep it to the center lane (yeah...even if we encounter a slow car) because we want the "effect" of the convoy of MINIs). If it's clear, we'll do 65-70, but no more (I have a Valentine 1 detector, but 70 doesn't get you into trouble on 695). We'll even stay in line at the Key Bridge too booth for the same effect. The toll is my treat. I'll pay for all of us, so we can roll through and stay in line. Hey...it's like a funeral!
