Offline | Baltimore Area MINIs...Let's Circle the Beltway ! I think it would be a hoot...let's get together somewhere off of the Beltway (695) and circumnavigate the city with one lap (approx 26 miles me thinks). Respond with what days and times this will work for you. | Bad Dog, Moderator | Do the beltway races still run? Lived for a short time in Silver Spring and worked in Alexandrea. This was back in 87-88 or so. I recall some pretty serious beltway racing in the early morning hours. Not that I would have ever had anything to do with that sort of activity. ![]() Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002. | Loves the Fuzzy One | If foreigners from VA are welcome, hubby and I might make it. We like to drive up and visit Potomac Mills regularly anyway, it would be fun to combine a shopping trip with a Beltway drive. We can only get up there on the weekends, and prefer Saturdays. ![]() Global Moderator |

Offline | April, I can only speak for myself, but I would be more than happy if some of our southern cousins came on up for a good time. Just remember to set aside enough time to spend some time at Potomac Mills... ![]() "We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail..." -- President George W. Bush - Sept. 20, 2001 |

Offline | Sure...everybody's welcome. Let's meet at Towson MINI next Saturday, August 10th, at 10:00. It's an easy place to leave from, and get everybody onto the Beltway at the same time. Y9ou can get directions from their website or go to mapquest and use this address: 700 Kenilworth Drive, Towson Maryland 21204. I'll have my cell phone on that morning should you get lost (410)913-5664 Ken Shapiro Electric Blue w/ Sport Package...first "S" delivered in Maryland (5/10/02) I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind. |

Offline | Count me in... Ken, I will will be there. I will have to check with my duaghter to see if I will be allowed to use my cell phone for the day. I purchased my MINI from there so I know the place well. In fact, I might even make an appointment to get the first oil change. ![]() April, Hope you make it up, looking forward to seeing the green interior. Offline | Perhaps some clarification in order here: Ken is speaking of the beltway around Baltimore (I-695)...not Washington DC (I-495). How about a lap around both beltways with a connecting drive down the B-W Parkway or I-95 or ______? And Ken...crabcakes where? Last edited by COOPERation : Aug 2nd, 2002 at 11:45 AM. |

Offline | Nah...the Capitol Beltway (495 DC) is a mess. Let's keep this one to the Baltimore Beltway (695). After we do our lap, I'll lead the group to Angelina's for crabcake lunch. It's pretty close to Towson MINI and was voted "Baltimore's Best" crabcakes by Baltimore Magazine. I'll print up directions just in case we get seperated after returning to Towson MINI. Offline | I've written to Brett Sholder (GM at Towson) telling him about our "adventure". I said he could see it as a PR thing and provide goodies, media, etc. ,or get a shot gun and relegate us to Kenilworth Ave. in front of the dealership. I've also let the Baltimore Yahoo group (9 members) know. The plan is to leave at 10:00 (so don't be late...or if you're close, call me at 410-913-5664 ...my cell will be on at the dealership...to say "I"M COMING!!!). We'll go down Keniworth to Charles to the Beltway (695)...head East towards Essex, cross the Key Bridge ($1), and end up at Loch Raven Reservoir...upper level about a mile beyond the dam, for a photo shoot. Then on to Angelina's for crabcakes. I'm calling Angelina's today to verify that possibility. We'll keep it to the center lane (yeah...even if we encounter a slow car) because we want the "effect" of the convoy of MINIs). If it's clear, we'll do 65-70, but no more (I have a Valentine 1 detector, but 70 doesn't get you into trouble on 695). We'll even stay in line at the Key Bridge too booth for the same effect. The toll is my treat. I'll pay for all of us, so we can roll through and stay in line. Hey...it's like a funeral! Offline | Good point! YES...rain or shine, The MINIs will work. There are no Lucas electronics and they don't leak (yet?) even though they're British. Everybody, please let me know by MINI2 private mail or e-mail bethken@worldnet.att.net if you're going to do the crabcakes at Angelinas afterwards, because I need to make reservations for a group over six. So far,it looks like we have six cars going, but I need to know people who are going to eat. Cars going as of 8/4: kshapiro, paddy, aprilwhine, cooperation, L.MINI, and the Millers Ken Shapiro Electric Blue w/ Sport Package...first "S" delivered in Maryland (5/10/02) I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind. |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | Take me off the confirmed list. When I replied before, I thought you meant the DC beltway. DC is at the far range on a day trip for me, any farther and I get a motel room. So I don't think I can make this one after all. Sorry, I had been looking forward to meeting all of you there. ![]() Global Moderator |
