| Heartbeat Weekender - Sept 30 / Oct 1st 2006 The Doncaster Mini Register is running it's own Heartbeat weekend event at the end of the month. It was a very successful event when we ran it last year. Saturday, we leave Doncaster, a back road drive to the Humber Bridge for a photo shoot and a pub lunch. We then head up to Scarborough, again trying to avoid main roads to get the most from your Mini. There will be the option of a drive on the Olivers Mount road circuit in Scarborough (speed limits apply !!!). Those attending will be free to book their own hotel accomodation overnight in Scarborough, there are some contacts on our web site. Sunday, we drive the 'Heartbeat Run' across the North Yorkshire Moors in the other direction. Some of you will have driven this early in the year, Rams's event. The finish is in Thirsk, and then you are free to head home whichever way is best for you. We return to Doncaster via the A1. Everyone knows that the Heartbeat Run is one of the best runs on the calendar, along with the Cotswolds etc. I feel that making it a weekend event makes it even better. Doing the Heartbeat the other way is better as we are heading towards 'home' making it a shorter day. If you are interested you can do either or both of the two days.Non club members are charged £ 1.00 per car to cover expenses, run notes etc. They are provided on arrival. Full details can be found on our web site, the link is below. You can register your names here if you wish. | Only 2 weeks to this one now, surprised that there hasn't been more interest from this site, after all I know some of you couldn't make the Heartbeat Run when it ran earlier in the year. Got about 10 club members and 4 non members with names down so far, some are doing the weekend, some doing one day which is the good thing about the event. You can do as much or as little as you wish. The event can handle as many cars as we can get, re group points and photo stops have been planned for this. I am doing a short recce on the 23rd to change the route on the Saturday slightly to make it more 'fun' and to take out some of the junctions which caused a split in the convoy last year. | Well, got one car set for this one Jas...hopefully a couple more - will email you once i've got a final number. Anyone heading down to scarborough on sunday mornin and fancy a CON-VOY!?(oops...outburst...apologies.... ) how many ya got for this shin-dig matey?10am at Del Mar Cafe on the Sunday? That Right? |

Yeah that's right, 10.00am at the North end of Marine Drive near to cafe del mar. Have got 12 for the weekend, an extra two for Saturday only, and an extra 4 for the Sunday, so not too bad. Run notes will be provided at the start, and as usual a £ 1 donation to our club funds for non members is expected. Recommend you bring lunch with you for the Sunday as their aren't too many food outlets on route and we might not hit them at lunch time. Would be great to see you there. Just let me know either way before hand. Regards Jas Next Event - Christmas Skegness Run - Sunday December 30th - All Welcome

I can't because I haven't finished them yet. Have just done recce for a change in the route from the Humber Bridge to Scarborough to get rid of some of the bottle necks we found last year. It will make the Saturday much more enjoyable. I know that the big runs, the Cotswolds and the 'proper' Heartbeat run do do that, and IF we take over the Heartbeat in 2008 IF Rams decides to make the 2007 event his last as organiser we will do the same. But we are a members club, and our members pay a membership fee. It would be difficult to justify that fee if we allowed anyone to come to our events (which we do) without a small contribution to club funds. Otherwise our members wouldn't pay either, and the club wouldn't function. So even if I did post a link to the run notes, there would still be a small fee to pay for those attending who aren't members of our club. It is something we have always done, I don't think it is asking too much. Next Event - Christmas Skegness Run - Sunday December 30th - All Welcome

I am glad. It isn't meant to be a deterrant to non members, it is supposed to make sure club members get value for money. Hope to see you there. Jas Next Event - Christmas Skegness Run - Sunday December 30th - All Welcome

For me MINI2 Runs have always been free, that's a beauty off it, you don't need money, just a MINI and petrol and off you go for a blast. Charges have only been to cover off specific costs such as parking. You'd be better posting run notes for free download Jas and then just have a bucket at the end of the run for voluntary donations
