Thumbs up The Hamster Run - UK National Charity Run for the yorkshire air ambulance

So we all know what happend, we all know he is on the mend, and we all know that a debt of gratitude is owed to the Air Ambulance. What I did not know was that they have to pass on some calls due to load on the current chopper. But they now have enough to buy a second one. great. but the need more money to run it.

The Hamster Run.

It would be great to have a national sponsored run, but then an idea hit me. The best run is your favourite blast, where you know every curve, every pothole and every potential speed trap.

So the details.

Meetup - your house

Time - Between now and October 8th (when TG would have started showing)

Run details - The best fun you can have within 20 miles - further if you wish.

Cost - £5.00 + 40p per mile of your run.

There are a number of ways to tackle the money side of things. You can make your donation directly, but make sure you fill in a gift aid form - the government will add back your income tax. It would be great to be able to put a number on the amount we raise, and I am happy to put the donation through my own payroll (self employed high rate payer - the gift will attract the full 40%.) Bank account details and paypal details will be made available to all taking part.

So thats it, let us all know about your run, when you do it, and how much you will raise.

Yellow Cooper

To kick start. I will be on the Windermere to Kendal 'Crook' road this coming saturday. Its a 12 mile run, full of bends, and one good straight.

Total raised £5.00 + £4.80 = £10 rounded up.

Don't want to put a damper on things, but shouldn't people think about their local air ambulance. The Wiltshire one covers my area and is very busy, it flys over my house on the way to the hospital regularly! I'm sure its just as underfunded as the yorkshire one.

simeds, I agree with what you are saying here.

Just because the YAA saved Richard, there are a heap of other air ambulances in the UK that have a lack of funds.

I will therefore be doing 2 runs, one for the YAA (as they saved the life of the best TG presenter for a long time) and another for Essex Air Ambulance.
