Went on a drive to confrim the route today, glad I went, one road I chose was full of large pot holes, had to tip toe around them, was not good for my pregnant wife who came to test teh route.
Found some nice views and roads today. I'm getting even more excited about it now!
Just writting up the run notes now, will post ASAP.

United-Kingdom Fish & Chip run

Darren,

A friend of ours who also has a Mini may come along on the day but it's not confirmed yet, will it be OK for them to just turn up on the day?

By the way a work colleague placed a thread on the Northern Mini's site for me (mostly classic Minis) letting them know about this run but it raised little interest, I thought it would be good to have old and new at the event but never mind, I did try.

Alan.

Yes it's no problem just to turn up on the day. Old minis are always welcome but the northen mini people dont tend to be too friendly to new minis. Although BMW made the old mini for 5 years!

Also Rover had a big hand in designing the new mini.

Hi Darren,

I'm going to try and pop my Mini meet-up cherry on your run - so please add me to the list.

I see from your map that some of the route is over the Fylingdales road. I went over that last weekend (on my way to Thornton le Dale) and it was a riot. For people with aero kits I remember there used to be a few big speed humps in Dalby, so take it steady, we don't want you losing your front spoiler.

Thanks, Bear

Hi tnoy66, not to woory, will see you on the next run maybe!?!

Bear, your added

Good note regards speed bumps, think there are only a few right near the entrance to the drive after the pay booth and near the main visitors center area.
Anyone with A Cooper S or Cooper/One with a Aero kit take it easy as Bear sas. Our MCS has had a few scrapes on the bottom of the front apron.

F & C run

Darren,

Our friend has now decided to join the run so please put "Janice" down as well.

Re the Dolby Forrest run, what sort of road conditions can we expect? if they are rally style unmade roads at this time of the year then I might be taking the detour!

By the way it says on one of your posts that you will be putting the route on UKmini.com - BMW Mini Club York, UK but you have posted just an overview? will we be supplied with maps on the day, what are the cost for the day and have you pre booked a F & C shop or are we just winging it?

Ps, looking forward to the run now!!!

Cheers,

Al....

As Classic cooper says, all smooth riding, a few speed bumps to go slow over on the way in but nothing unusual.

So Classic, are you coming along too???

Regards notes,
For this one I will print notes for all comfirmed attendees, but will also post them on ukmini for people to print off if they like. I have them written so just need to upload them. I've been on all but the last part of the run last Sunday, looking forward to it.

I haven't booked any fish and chip shop, there are plenty to choose from. I am going to aim for the Magpie on pier road. If people want to go there i can ring them and see if we can book a table. Otherwise I was just going to turn up there, if busy head to another one. There is one further up near the station that i went to the other day, but it was expensive.

Take away if ok weather is always a good option taking in the sea air on the pier!

I also have the Dalby Forest drive half price passes now to sell on at the start. £2.50, usually £5.00.
I also have window stickers for the run being made which will be on sale for £2.50. The stickers will have the Fish and Chip run round logo on them like on the ukmini website. But with the added gloss of the nice poeple at M4 Graphics flash computers!

Darren
