The Massive MINI Meet 2007: Fri 27th -> Sun 29th April 07
Hello Peeps!
There’s a lot to read, so please bare with me!
Right. After reminiscing about my first MINI run (Wessex III) where the SCNM, Cornwall and Severns all came together for an awesome run, I thought that maybe we should have another one.
But this time...MUCH BIGGER!
So I began talking with Max about doing this event, involving those two clubs and Nicci's (Foxy_MINI) East Coast MINI Club and minicruiser's MINI2Mini. But after consultation, I've decided to call it the MASSIVE MINI Meet 2007* so that ANYONE who wants to attend can come.
I really do hope that we have LOTS of MINIs and their owners and company, attending from ANYWHERE in the world who want to come.
Well maybe Europe is as far as it will go!
I understand that because its down South, its an awfully long way for some people to come, but trust me, it will be very good! So definitely worth the trip! And if you are wanting to camp, the campsite is VERY good, with good amenities and for those people who don’t mind the cold, there’s a swimming pool!
The event will be a WEEKEND event.
Friday 27th April: A small get together in the evening for those people staying in local campsites/hotels or anyone that just wants to turn up! The location for this has yet to be decided, but I will let you know in due course!
Saturday 28th April: The day of the MINI run!!!
The MINI run will start at 10AM.
Please get there from 9.30am so we can start to get people put into their appropriate run groups. (Puddlers, Middle groups, Fast group).
The Start Point is on a circular road within an industrial estate, so it makes it easier for us to assemble everyone into groups. Get on to the one way and you will eventually see lots of MINIs! (Unless your the first one there!) Each group will be lead by someone who has done the route so just follow them. They will announce themselves at the start point so you know who is leading your pack.
Each group leader will have a hand held radio and no doubt many other people in the group, so if you get lost or need to say something to the leader, you will be able to!
If you are a newbie and unfamiliar with the format of a MINI run, THATS OK! But I would recommend you go in the first, slow group (Puddlers) so that you will better enjoy your run.
Lunch will be at the A303 Solstice Services near Amesbury - the site includes the Amesbury Archer [Brewers Fayre Pub-restaurant], a Pizza Hut and a KFC and loads of parking so no bookings for lunch will be required-just turn up and go eat! And fuel is also available there.
After the run, we will head back to the campsite for a night time BBQ and evening of fun!
You DON'T have to camp to take part in the night time fun!
If the weather is going to be bad, we will retire to a local pub where we can all have something to eat and a nice drink. Anyone worried about the run, PLEASE don't! If you do have any concerns, just ask and we will try our best to answer your questions
Sunday 29th April The end of what should hopefully be a blooming good weekend.
The start point will be the West Portway Industrial Estate circuit road, which leads up to the rear exit of the Premier Inn Car Park.
Accommodation
We've a very nice campsite near the start point for all those people wishing to camp on the Friday and/or Saturday nights.
If you are intending to stay here please book early to avoid disappointment.
This is next door to a brand new Brewers Fayre pub-restaurant called The Portway (No website for this as it’s so new) where we could have a Friday and/or Saturday evening get together if the weather is inclement.
There is also a SHELL OPTIMAX station across the Roundabout from the hotel.
Please post in here and tell us:
A) What event you are doing (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
B) How many people in your group are coming
C) Your name/s
D) Are you camping, staying inthe hotel or just turning up for the run
For those that attended the South Downs run by Poppet, this event will be much in the same vein.
I really enjoyed the South Downs and that's why I'm doing something like it.
In order to make it clearer who is attending and other such important stuff, PLEASE KEEP THE BANTER IN THIS THREAD TO A MINIMUM!
If you would like to banter about this event, then please use this thread here:
As said before, if you have any questions, just drop me a PM or send me an email to RedandWhiteMINI@Hotmail.com and I will try my best to answer your questions!
Hopefully see lots of you peeps there!

P.S. Thank you to Richard (bishjnr) of some far off place called "Cornwall" for the name!

If you wouldnt mind letting your fellow Essex members know about this event, that would be most appreciated! And it will be good to meet you guys!
If you could ask your friends if they could just pop in here and leave their name and what they intend on doing (Staying in the hotel or campsite, and for which days) I'd be most appreciative!
Not many MINI runs get done down this part of the world...tis a nice area and lovely views, as well as nice roads!
Thank you for the interest! It should hopefully be a very good run and fingers crossed for some nice weather, which will make it all the worth while for people such as yourself coming from the East Coast!
Hopefully see you and a few more ECMCers at the run!
