| All White | Track PW Photoshoot recce live Just for a bit of fun, I'm going to turn the tracker on on my iPAQ while we do the recce for possible locations for the forthcoming PW photoshoot. So, to see where we are and where we've been, follow the link below (after 10am today) Google maps tracker or this one but I don't think the map is as good. To find out more about the (free) tracker software go to GPS Tracking Device, GPS Tracking System, Location Based Services - Reperion, btw. Rob |

Offline | I believe this was real time as we drove, can't really tell you much more than that. I'm sure Orb will explain, and eventually i will psot pics. The one thing this map does tell me is that I destroyed one of brand new alloys at 1.12 pm, which is very useful ![]() ![]() |

![]() Em - mental | Its a small piece of software that uses your GPS receiver to send data via your PDA/phone to the reperion tracker in real time or User Specified - depending on your options The tracker then sticks together the list of LONG/LAT/HEIGHT positions together with the time the data was captured (also from the GPS satellite) and then sticks them all together into a 'breadcrumb' trial to show you all where we've been - software is available for any PDA some phones I think also support it, the red markers on the map were places where our speed was 0 (ie where we stopped for piccies and lunch) and as Weasel correctly pointed out - the big red marker is where the tracking software was turned off by Rob... | All White | In the dodgiest pub in Glossop! Seems to have worked quite well. I think it's quite cool to be able to see where you've been. And my wife liked it, I was getting text messages like 'Why have you stopped in the middle of nowhere?' ![]() I knew if anyone was interested it would be Martin! I think Math's explained how it works quite nicely, any other questions? Rob |

| Damned | Loads I`ve been investigating the building a cheap tracker system & this looks like it could add some interesting possibilities See >> Build your own Car Tracker System So although primarily I`ve been looking at systems that can work independantly, I wondered if this method could be made to give say, - A call back with its exact map ref , either whenever prompted via a trigger call, or perhaps a text location every 6 hours or whenever? ![]() In da Wud |

![]() Em - mental | As far as I can gather - all tracked data is help on their server - and its their front end that then overlays it onto google/mapquest etc they do have the option of exporting the tracking data that you can overlay yourself onto a google earth map..... i dunno if this would be of use... If you just want current position tho - are you not better to have a GPS receiver send the current LONG/LAT to you via a txt message? obviously you would have to have a serial connection from the GPS to a PLC or computer linked to a GPRS or mobile output... i guess..... as for how it would all work tho - ask someone else !!!!
