NoNo's coming to the Charity Ball!

I've bitten the bullet and I'll be packing my bags to see all of you at the Charity Ball. My birthday is that Monday, I thought it'd be a nice gift to myself As it's my first trip to England, I'd like to hear your input on where I should go, how long you think I need to stay for (I'd like to cap it at a week), and things I need to bring/know. For cost reasons, I'll be flying in and leaving mid-week. I'm very excited and I can't wait to finally meet all my Misfit friends! Did I mention my birthday's on the 7th? Don, are you paying attention? I love chocolate!

Welcome aboard NoNo - .

You should add the Lake District to your itinerary - I'm sure we could organise a run or at least a nice drive out that way at some point during your stay .

Maybe it's the stupid touristy American thing to do, but I'd definitely like to check out Stonehenge. Is there any way to get there without my own car? I don't plan on driving while there, what with the whole switching the side of the road and steering wheel. There was a bad incident in Bermuda as a child, I'm not eager to recreate it.

Where are you flying into? Can you fly into London and out from Manchester? Then you can do flyinto the south and do Stonehenge, come up to the midlands and the Ball, head north to Lakes and misfits and fly from the north .....

Have you booked a room at the hotel for the Ball yet? Best do that before they sell out!! Most of the trouble makers are doing Friday and Saturday there

There are coach trips out there but it's kind of in the middle by itself. You'll see it all in about 1/2 hour as there is a path that you follow round the stones. Prob best to combine it with something else on a day trip.

Lakes would be good to see NoNo, like Shams said Stonehenge isnt quite what most people imagine, 30 mins would do !

Welcome BTW

I haven't booked my flight yet, I wanted to consult with the experts here first. I could certainly fly into London and work my way north. Haven't booked a room at the hotel yet, I'm trying to find someone to share with. I'm not picky, a couch or a bathtub will work just fine.

What is this "ball" ? Do you have to wear long (red) gowns and stuff, Annette?

Stonehenge is about 80 miles west of Heathrow - a long walk! Not very near to any rail service either. You need a car - or a driver ...

NoNo, there's transport readily available for you around the country. Let us know the dates and places you are flying to/from and we'll work around you. Stonhenge is about an hour and half from London, so if you fly into Heathrow there will be some people ready to take you to see it I'm sure. In fact, let me know when it is and I'll take you. There's other cool places nearby so we'll make a day of it. We'll see if me and my girlfriend can take a day off work
