I know where you're coming from MandyMoo. Approached the three sponsors below first, and thankfully they said yes. I have used all their services before so approaching them face to face was easier. Since then I've had real problems getting any interest at all, especially using written correspondance. None MINI related companies have been a none starter ![]() The response from work colleagues has been very mixed too. Have stopped offering them the opportunity to buy the lottery tickets, and just give them the form. I found that people that have consistantly sponsored me £5 in the past are buying £1-2 of lottery tickets. Stick a form in front of them and they usually put £5-10. Have also found that friends and colleagues have politiely ignored emails with links to my just giving page, so now I pay them a personal visit. Will point out that I always ask nicely, and would never force anyone to sponsor me. Lottery tickets are now reserved for those people I don't know so well, when I need an angle to convince them. Devious and hard I know, but that's just the way it is. After my whinging above I would like to point out that some friends, family, and colleagues have made substantial pledges (way more than expected) and for this I am very grateful. MINI 2 members have been great. And again I cannot thank the companies below enough for helping Team 43 participate this year. Without their help we wouldn't be there.

Humph/Mandy I know it can be frustrating at times with false promises and people not bothering to reply, even if it would be a flat no. But at the end of the day if you feel you have tried your hardest and made a real effort what more can you do. If every mini owner took part in the IJ the NCH would probably have all the money it needs but they don't. So at the end of the day you can be satisfied that you have made a difference to those childrens life's whatever the size of your contribution. Nobody on the IJ ever asks what money you have raised and they only demand that you pass all monies raised to them the following Febuary. So if you wish there is nothing stopping you continuing your fund raising after the event. The £1500 is just a suggested target. Last year we made just under £1200 is my memory serves me right. This year we will be lucky to hit £750. But you will find people on the job, some even millionaires, that can support themselves or have better contacts than you or I. As we both work for local government so we can't ask, as it's public money. And we have not sold any tickets this year on mini runs, so as to give other people a chance and so as not to use up peoples good will. Although I will say from people's experience, us included, that you will sell more tickets at non mini events. I hope this makes you feel better, and once on the job it's all about fun and I know you'll have a great time! ![]() Chris

Firstly to let you know the information was given to me by one of the organisers the other day. This was because the door panels have changed this year and I asked if I could keep the set of last years panels on the car whicht I had already fitted to promote the event. The answer was flat no for the reasons given in my other post. I think the insurance is something that is required under Italian law. I would presume that the insurance is similar to public liablity insurance for an event rather than personnal accicident insurance for each car. Earlier this year we wanted our own stand at Mini in the Park. But it didn't happen as they wanted us to provide a certificate of public liabilty insurance before we took part. What we did find out later, was that if you write to the IJ in advance they can cover you on their insurance for your fund raising events. As far as you're or your UK car insurance is concerned it's a navigational exercise, we are not in competition with each other, and no different to any other MINI run. Just make sure that your UK insurance allows you to drive abroad in all countries you intend on visiting along with breakdown cover. Remember this is only my understanding of things and if you have any concerns it might be wise to contact the IJ.
