Cheers Andy. I have approached one main sponsor so far. Intend to approach others. Sent the letter based on having a main sponsor (to cover entry fee) and some smaller ones (to make up the pounds). Just wondered if I'd done the right thing just approaching one at the moment.
Anyway thanks mate, maybe see you at Gumball on Saturday. Will be good to see the two of you again. Shame about IJ 2007.
No probs mate - will be at the Gumball on Sunday with Nathan(another ex IJ) - should be coming to the hotel on Sunday morning to travel in with you guys. Should be able to answer any questions you have about the IJ then.
Ok more questions, sheesh am full of them now You'll get fed up of me I can tell you. So did your sponsors pay the cost of their decals, was it part of the deal. Did they use their own supplier or did they pay you to sort them through yours? Thanks again.
Our Sponsor's paid the cost of there own decals - Mini had there own supplier for our other sponsors I sorted it out with a local company and the sponsors paid for them - only cost about £20 for the 2 of them.
Hi Simon
Sorry for the delay in replying but we'vebeen flying round the country getting the GP modded and a mini run over the weekend.
There are no hard and fast rules on how you raise your sponsorship and everyone will have their own way.
Just remember the target figure of £1500 is just a suggested figure,.As long as you think you;ve done your best in raising as much money for the charity that's good enough for the organisers. Every penny counts.
No one from the organisation ever asks how much you have raised, They just ask for all monies raised from the IJ lottery tickets about ten days before the event. The remainder of the monies from sponsorship etc do not have to be forwarded to the IJ until the following February.
Right answers to your questions.
1. There is no reason why you can't get one main company to sponsor your whole car. Great if your lucky enough to find someone to do this.
2. We sent out loads of letters and waited for responses.
3.We told any potential sponsors that they could sponsor various parts of the car with a suggested figure of between £20 to £100 pounds, depeding on the size of the graphic.
4. We paid the entry fee out of our own pocket. But no reason why you can't get a company to sponsor your entry fee, as long as you tell them what its for.
Hope this helps, but any other questions do not hesitate to contact me here or PM.
Will be really great to see you at this years event.
Have you got a navigator yet? When you do, let me know their name along with your team No. so I can update the first post.
