Offline | Fuel yes, batteries no (only for classics), but a car is worse with empty tank as its the vapours that are the flamble bit not the liquid. The worse bit some classic owners were draining their tanks an disposing of it on the fields which was more dangerous than leaving fuel in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Due to hot cars, cigaretes an vapours |

Offline | The new MINI section was rubbish and a waste of time going, It took us over 2 hours to get there and hardly any time to walk round the MINI section with only a couple of stores with bits for sale. All we got was a years subcription with Modern MINI!! Then the drive home again. There was even less than last year! You would think that it would be larger each year, I really thought it would have been in two halls this time with much more for us new MINI's. ![]() |

| Tinkering In The Garage | its the first time i've ever been turned away from a display due to too much fuel in the car. Very disapointed in not being able to get the cars in, but its partly my fault, i didn't read the paperwork that came with the passes for this show. It never occured to me that the nanny state would make it into the show scene. Like Loui said those that could syphon out their cars were then pouring it over the grass, the whole area reeked of petrol. Reading the paperwork afterwards it seems that we are expected to carry out a "risk assesment" of our stand now too Ady ![]() |

| knowing me, knowing you | I remember they tried it a few years ago Ady, but we all refused, in the end they had to cave in and let us in on our terms as otherwise they would have had an empty hall. Or did we just deny there was fuel in the cars, I can't remember ![]() Seems this event has got even worse now and those that run it ![]() Its only a forum you know! ![]() |

Offline | Thats harsh, health & safety regs are now a major part of any show, especially the indoor ones. And as that was venue rules its not on having a go at the BMC volunteers who organised and ran the show content. (Remember its not their venue - hence all the private security & health & safety people...... Then again how would you know, you were not there........) Its this sort of attitude that makes me wonder why some of us bother spending our time voluntarily showing our cars just so folks can have an enjoyable day out. ![]() Its a very difficult job and the only way to get through it is we all work together as a team..... |

Offline | Disapointing this year, and all the rules and regs have totally taken the fun out of it. As already mentioned, and from somebody who deals with fire regulations, it's actually safer to have a full tank of petrol, but appreciate the people there were only enforcing a stupid rule, not writing it. But as a lot of petrol was just being thrown on the grass outside, don't think the whole thing was thought out too well!!! That was why we put the modle cars on the stand, to try and inject a little humour back into a stifled atmosphere. Not sure it went down too well with some of the organisers, but hoped it made a few people chuckle! Well done Lohen for getting the one and only R56 on display! ![]() |

| knowing me, knowing you | I don't think its harsh, not when I know I used to attend this run every year, as a classic owner and part of the British Mini Owners club many years ago, my last straw with the event was when they tried to enforce the same rules and others on us when we were showing there as I have already said ![]() So I know exactly what its like to volunteer and show my car, as I still attend the outdoor events and still show my car on a regular basis. Perhaps a better choice of venue should be considered if this is the fault of the venue, or perhaps its more to do with the clubs Insurance for the event, either way it could have been avoided as they have experience from the past as to how owners react to this stupid rule. Its only a forum you know! ![]() |
