Offline | Thanks Anthony. I'll keep it quiet with the classic folk I know, until confirmed, to avoid possible embarrassment! You should be OK! I took my then 5 weeks old R56 MC on the Lancs Lanes Run at the end of January. Now that WAS pretty hairy in places! This event should be a different kettle of worms altogether though. By it's very nature I reckon everybody will be taking things pretty steady to keep safely in convoy. If the gap is to be about 2 car lenghts to meet the rules then it's looking like 20-30mph tops will be more than enough! If the plan is to get a road closed then Lytham St Annes Way (which Woodmans opens onto) in the direction of South Shore would probably be ideal. This is a new road which no one will really miss at that time of night (diversions onto Whitehill Rd) and looping round the first roundabout might get in the required two miles with a few 'laps'. Or perhaps the police could just close the access onto Preston New Road long enough to allow the convoy to form and make its way in the direction of Kirkham (perhaps tricky now it's a single lane jobby). Or even onto the M55 like has already been said. Or reverse what I said above and shut Whitehhil Road...Anyway, I'm rambling/wildly guessing a bit here. Everyone at Woodmans and the police will be working their way through all the possible safe options without my meddling!! SSL PS - and, seeing as it's Blackpool, they could always shut the Golden Mile and do it twice!!! Last edited by South Shore Lad : Mar 10th, 2007 at 10:52 PM. ![]() MINI2 Master | I think Chris is going to be checking this with the officials; I mentioned it to him the other evening. I think he's just done a typo and it will be lengths - this computer milarkey confuses him. (sorry mate). As for the speed, yes, EVERYONE will have to drive VERY slowly to avoid any bumps and to keep the distance between the cars within the regulations. Of course, once the two-mile police escorted stretch is completed you can drive as you would normally . |

I've also just had confirmation that a Guinness World Record Adjudicator will be present on the night so we'll have an instant decidion. It seems this club caters equally (?) for 'classics' and 'Bee Ems' ! Perhaps we could get a mention on their site if anyone thinks it's a good idea and is up for the legwork/input of info! SSL |
