For the last two years the MINIs on Top have had 200 MINIs in a rolling convoy up the Auto Road to the top of Mount Washington in New Hampshire.
There are only allowed to have 200 because theer are only 200 spaces in the Parking Lot at the Summit of the Mountain.
Good luck with your attempt...

^^^ Very good point.

Now MOT is an event I'd love to attend one day.

As it's an evening thing - I'll be there! There are quite a few MINI owners at work now too, so will see who I can drag along with me from there!!

They could have 250 but it wouldn't make it a world record.

To Be a world record no all cars in the convoy can be more 2 car lengths apart and must stay within the said distance for 2k (with out any breaks and all MINIs). Also it must be filmed in detail and/or have an official form Guinness World Records in atendance. Not to mention every drivers name, address and reg need to be recorded.

Its not going to be easy to pull off, but well worth it!!

Would be great to do 300

I have just registered me and my bro for this (both own ONE D's) My Dad reckons it would be cool to see them all in a convoy and wouldn't mind coming and now my Mum wants to come.

The speed will be slow and steady, its not a race. Have faith in others (and maybe yourself ).

Thanks Anthony. I'll keep it quiet with the classic folk I know, until confirmed, to avoid possible embarrassment!

You should be OK!

I took my then 5 weeks old R56 MC on the Lancs Lanes Run at the end of January. Now that WAS pretty hairy in places! This event should be a different kettle of worms altogether though. By it's very nature I reckon everybody will be taking things pretty steady to keep safely in convoy. If the gap is to be about 2 car lenghts to meet the rules then it's looking like 20-30mph tops will be more than enough!

If the plan is to get a road closed then Lytham St Annes Way (which Woodmans opens onto) in the direction of South Shore would probably be ideal. This is a new road which no one will really miss at that time of night (diversions onto Whitehill Rd) and looping round the first roundabout might get in the required two miles with a few 'laps'. Or perhaps the police could just close the access onto Preston New Road long enough to allow the convoy to form and make its way in the direction of Kirkham (perhaps tricky now it's a single lane jobby). Or even onto the M55 like has already been said. Or reverse what I said above and shut Whitehhil Road...Anyway, I'm rambling/wildly guessing a bit here. Everyone at Woodmans and the police will be working their way through all the possible safe options without my meddling!!

SSL

PS - and, seeing as it's Blackpool, they could always shut the Golden Mile and do it twice!!!

Yeah, I noticed the two car widths bit too. I'm guessing it's lengths - widths will mean having to drive at walking pace to avoid a bump won't it?

I think Chris is going to be checking this with the officials; I mentioned it to him the other evening. I think he's just done a typo and it will be lengths - this computer milarkey confuses him. (sorry mate).

As for the speed, yes, EVERYONE will have to drive VERY slowly to avoid any bumps and to keep the distance between the cars within the regulations. Of course, once the two-mile police escorted stretch is completed you can drive as you would normally .
