Mini Racing Festival, Oulton Park, May 28th

Remember the Great and British Mini Festivals that were held at a couple of circuits last year? Well due to their popularity, they are being run again and the first one is at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday (May 28th). I've just been sent the details. I'll be there and last year when I went to Brands there were about 100 Minis on track for the lunchtime parade.

Here are the details sent to me. Hope to see some of you there.

Bank Holiday Monday 28th May - There will be the opportunity for all Mini owners (classic and new) to drive the circuit at lunchtime in a parade lap. In the past this has been very popular with in excess of 100 Mini touring around waving at the crowd. Also everyone will receive a Dunlop winners cap for taking part. There will also be a special parking area and the chance to see the Mini Challenge cars up close and chat drivers during the grid walk that takes place after the parade.

The event is called 'The Dunlop Great and British Mini festival' and features six races where Minis will be competing - there are two races for the Mini Challenge, featureing the modern Cooper and Cooper S cars, the Dunlop Mini Miglia and Dunlop Mini Seven championship races, plus there will also be Minis competing in the two multi-marque Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup rounds.

I'm planning on going to this. How do you get to be 1 of the 100 that drive round the circuit?

It's first come first served. From experience as long as you're there by about 10:30 you should have no worries.

Have just found out from the circuit that all Minis will be parked together on Clay Hill, which should make an impressive sight and give us a great view of the racing - even if it's raining...

Hi there i have insider information from the organisers of the mini challenge that they may be attempting a record of most minis on track which requires over 300 cars so numbers may not be limited to 100. Dont have all the details but will post them when i find out for definate. .

Hi again have done some checking and the record attempt will be at donnington park sometime in the first weekend in august not as i first thought so more the merrier and will keep my ears open for more info.

You get in mill around and try to find out whats going on nobody knows and then someone tels you to be in your car at x oclock you sign a form and away you go form recent experience.

Pre Ordering tickets can help as I found out to my disgust at Croft.
Made to wait in line and miss practice while poeple turned up late but got waved through grr.

Sadly I wont be coming local track and all ........because

Never been to a JCC race at Oulton yet despite travelling all over the country,
Croft, Mallory, Snetterton, Thruxton, Donnington, Brands Hatch yet heres a track less than an hour away and I am either working or the wifes having a baby.
