I spoke to Chris earlier on today, he is in good spirits, loving the adventure, even though its hard work and scary at times.

Oh and today is the first day that he has got the *****

He asked me to share this with you all

Well, we've made it as far as Kathmandu... it's been hard going. Our Rickshaw is handling the wqeight of four passengers and all our kit quite well. It's been eventful so far. We lost everybody on the way out of Calcutta, the place is a dump and we managed to get lost in the crazy traffic. We met up with another team of two lads who stuck with us. We ended up driving through some of the nastiest places you can imagine, eventually found someone who gave us directions, we still don't have a map. God knows how we made it this far, but we have. Highlights so far.....

An attempted robbery on the bridge over the ganges, I had to run over the mad man to get away.

Being arrested for taking pictures of a dam and threatened with 7 days in Indian jail.

Having a snake thrown at me while driving through a junction town.

Dave Stabbed himself in the face while we were driving, then got taken away for an hour to have stiches, but no-one told us... we just couldn't find him.

I fell out of the rickshaw while we were moving, luckily I managed to roll along the road and only suffered a few cuts and bruises.

One of the Maoist leaders in Nepal has been assasinated, supposedly by the government, in the last two days. We've had to deal with armed road blocks put up by the governments. Village riots where they've been burning all the vehicles, busses and lorries have been petrol bombed. Rebel road blocks (these are a lot harder to get past than the army roadblocks). Village lockdowns, where all traffic is stopped and the power turned off at night to stop rioting. It's incredible, and quite scarey.

Dave's also suffered from altitude sickness, but it's passed now, we got up to 2400 metres at one point.

Luckily the first two nights we were with the other two guys, they started to suffer from dyssentry so they wanted to have a day to recover, we left them behind and that's the last we've seen of anybody. We're on our own now. Kathmandu is a shithole, the most grim place in the world, but still slightly better hthan calcutta.

We left calcutta on Sunday, camped the first two nights in the safest places we could find. First night was in a service station, camping in the carpark. The second night was a patch of grass behind an old truck and tractor. The next two nights we stayed in with locals in their "hotels" which were really just spare rooms. but it wads good to have half decent beds, even if they were filthy. We made it to kathmandu late last night and managed to find a half decent hotel. we stay there tonight as well before attemting to get to Everest base camp tomorrow... and then heading west again to got through the rest of Nepal and off to Manali...

Wish us luck, probably won't get a chance to get online again, so pass this on to whoever you feel will be interested and see you when i get back, hopefully. Some pics of the launch party are uploaded to:

Glad the boy is having fun... mad fun, but fun

We're going to the water fight in Hyde Park during the day. Anyone else fancy it?

It's also going to be a bit of a double celebration as I've finished my course, had a brilliant, brilliant time doing it, met some lovely people and passed (with flying colours) Oh, and you have to call me "Miss" from now on
