Glad to hear you have made it this far. What a journey with Hurrican Ike and some of the "car" issues. It was great meeting you both. Jesse & I will be coming to MINI United so we will catch up with you in Silverstone. This time I won't be so busy with the Magical Mystery Mini Tour. We now have about 6 or seven from our club coming.

I am also checking on the Minis Motoring Against Cancer to make sure you got it to Yellowmini. I just sent a PM before I saw your post.

Safe Travels and the best to you both. We sure enjoyed meeting you.

It's not MINI related or a UK Event Stu so no, it does not belong in GD or UK forum - and really it should be in Off Topic where most other "my holiday" style threads end up but as this was a US specific road trip it has been allowed in here. We can move it to OT&B if you prefer?

If I remember correctly (since it hasn't been that long since I read the beginning of this thread), this whole trip idea started as a multinational MINI2er meets MINI2er road trip, at least partly to remember Ruthie and the previous 'California Dreamin' trip. Though it eventually became somewhat smaller in scale, due to some people having to drop out, the multinational, MINI related idea of this trip was not lost.

It's a shame that such a narrow viewpoint as 'this is a US specific road trip' is expressed like this, when it was intended as way for MINI2 people internationally to meet others. And for some of us, that intent wasn't lost, even though the thread travelled almost as much as Goonery & Pappillon.

Not to get in the middle of a debate or conflict, but more as a point of clarification, the"Paix et Soleil" Coast-to-Coast trip was launched from the Magical Mystery Mini Tour in San Francisco. This event (MMMT) did include participants from various countries, including the UK, Japan, Austrailia, Canada, Mexico, and the US. Stuart & Angelina did get a "send-off" from the British Consulate General on Saturday night. So from that perspective their journey did have an international start.

In five years of using MINI2, subscribed threads has never made sense to me, though others might like it.

My point is, by trying to 'contain' this thread to a section that is underutilised even by people in the US, we lose the whole point of what this journey is about, which is to celebrate the international character of MINI2.

Thanks to all the dear friends who are contributing to the debate as to where the thread should be. I thinki it might be best if the discussion were to be handled off line so as to not spoil the exuberance and good vibes that exist in here. I'm sure that eventually good sense will prevail.

There's also now an album called Tiles for America. It's a memorial we came across by chance while walking around the Village in New York. Very moving stuff but we're glad we had the opportunity to read some of the personal messages people were moved to write after 9/11.

We had a great time at the Old Toad Pub last Friday. This is one of my favorite places in Rochester to go, and even more fun with travelling guests, fellow local Mini owners, and some large rubber ducks.
