You should have asked for an alarm call, I'd have gladly rang you both when I got up....... at 5.30 AM to watch the MotoGP from Japan....

I hope everyone else realises that Andy and Stevie cost you your free breakfast....

Hope those who showed up enjoyed their day..... sorry for the slight navigational error, luckily Barry was there to get me back on track! I missed a turn near the end coming in to Desertmartin as well but I salvaged that one on my own!

Its unlikely that you could have fallen asleep driving on those roads although my wee boy managed to nod off coming over the Barnes Gap - only woke at the bottom in the car park!

Mind you the lack of brake pads may have been a bigger problem if you had come along - mine were cooked nicely coming down into Gortin.

it was more the drive to the run that i was worried about...... that road is sooooooo boring! and the brakes decided not to work properly last night, so it was definitely for the best that i didn't go it wouldn;'t have been as much fun in the escort (which i'm driving until the brakes are sorted)

Sounds like the roads were a bit too bumpy for me anyhow. What is the fasination with picking the tiniest, muckiest, bumpiest roads for these runs??

No chance of getting you to Cork next year then!

Personally I enjoy that sort of driving on those roads but I suppose I can understand that not everyone does. I know that I didn't bottom out at all yesterday but I certainly heard Hugo catch the front a few times so it might have been a bigger issue for lowered cars.

Another reason for picking roads that are small and remote is that they tend to be empty of other traffic - if we always go out on bigger well-travelled roads you'll probably spend a lot of time trundling along behind other road users - easy enough to pass on your own but much harder to get a convoy past safely.

Having said all that the road down Gortin Glen is smooth, clean, flat tarmac with some cracking sequences of bends which would have been worth driving all the other roads just to get to!

I'm quite happy to drive on nice flat tarmac as well though, as I intend to do next weekend at the Ni-Minis trackday!
