Northern Ireland - Sperrins Run Sunday 23rd September 07

After a bit of discussion about a local run I've decided to create a thread to gauge Interest in going for a "leisurely" drive round the Sperrins in a couple of weeks time.

I originally did the planning for this run back in April for MLNI and haven't been able to fit it in over the summer. It is a long day at 140-odd miles but takes in a real variety of roads. Some of these will have bumps in places! We will also not pass many petrol stations on the way so fill up beforehand. Nearest one to the start is in Magherafelt - about a mile away.

Start and End point is the KFC car park just off the A6 roundabout between Magherafelt and Castledawson.

My original lunch stop was a picnic in Gortin Glen Forest Park which has a £3 entry charge - gets you on a forest drive as well. I'm open to alternatives though in that area if anyone has any suggestions.

As it's a long run. an early start would probably be a good idea. I was thinking 10.00am but again, thats open for discussion!

i don't know if i'll be able to make it at that time of the morning (shortness' birthday party on the saturday night) and i won't have my usual co-driver but i'll see what i can do....

I will hopefully be able to make the run, i should be back in time on the Sat from the World Cup, and im hoping my choice of co pilot (from Draperstown) should help me aswell

Well I did say it was flexible! I'm happy to go for 11 if it means more folk are able to come along, I originally had this timed for the MLNI run - I reckon we might be a little bit quicker than a load of 998s!

Will be there in something. 11am sounds better to me. Dont much fancy 8am start on sunday morning, .

Reminds me, I remember we once had a run and we started at 10am in bangor, 3 cars turned up, me, nylo and Glen!!! Ended the day with about 7 or 8, everyone was recovering from the night before.

Send the summer out in style, just found out i'm back to Uni the next day, full time this year Sh1**

Although full time is 12-16 hours a week . Nearly as part time as BP.
