Mini Illuminations - the Blackpool Invasion - Sunday 14th October

The Doncaster Mini Register is hosting a run to the Blackpool Illuminations on Sunday October 14th.

The run will take in some great roads through the Dales before dropping down into Blackpool.

TWO MEET POINTS:
Doncaster College - The HUB building - leaving at 1.00pm (will post post code soon)
Ferrybridge Services - A1 / M62 junction - leaving at 2.00pm
OR you can meet us in Blackpool - Morrisons - 5.30pm ish

The aim is to get to Blackpool around 5.30pm and we are organising an exclusive sea front parking area.
We will be convoying through the Illuminations, start 8.00pm leaving Blackpool around 8.30 / 9.00pm returning via the motorway network.
You are free to leave earlier, or later but if you stay later you will need to move the car from the sea front area to avoid a ticket. You will be free to do as you please in Blackpool for the three or so hours we will be there.

Route notes will be linked here to download when finished.

There will be two lists, here and on the DMR web site, so feel free to register here. I need to know how many are in the car, and also where you will be meeting us.

I hope you can make it.

Jason

It will be a good one. Just waiting on the council to let me know where they will put us before I publish run notes. Hope you can make it.

This sounds like fun, however I attended a minifinity illuminations run a couple of years ago and it was chaos with the traffic. Is there anything organised with the council to let us all through in one convoy?

I have been lead to believe that Derek Woodman Mini are also planning to run an event.

That would be cool Steve, will confirm route then let you know a meet point. Still not sure whether to 'cruise' the sea front in all the traffic, or simply take us to the parking area and then let drivers 'walk' the illuminations and do their own thing.

Your thoughts appreciated Steve, seen as you live there ! Lol.

I live 200 metres from the Starr Gate end of the prom (not that you'd ever guess from my MINI2 name)

I'm therefore close to the tail end of things, so what would be the best way to get involved earlier on?

Cheers

@ J1, don't actually touch M55 on way in, but when notes are posted you can choose meet. Will try to factor in meet points now to cater for everyone.

@ South shore lad, best way to get involved is to come out on the route and meet us. I need to get these sorted ASAP now so everyone can make plans.

Just over 20 cars now with Steve's 8, so looking good so far.

Hi there you'll have to go to the Main central car parks from the Bloomfield rd area and further into town if you are parking up or congregate south of the town along Clifton drive by pontins holiday camp if you intend to go through by car, we could meet along there, but be aware it could get busy.

Steve Mac
