Lightbulb SCOTLAND Knockhill: Update and Invite

Hi Folks

Just a quick update and invite. We has the S at Knockhill yesterday (Friday 6th Sept) and had so much fun you just wouldn't believe it.

The cars there included

Ferrari 355 *2,360 and F40
Lambourghini Diablo
Scooby Doos * 3
Elise * 3 + Exige
Audi TT and RS4
VW GTi
Original Cooper
205 GTi
Renault Clio 172

The excellent new is that the Mini is absolutely kick-ass for Knockhill. It corners like you wouldn't believe and the noises from the tyres are justr soooo good.

Major upside is that the track is so wide at places and peoples general manners in letting you by are great therefore it's pretty safe and unless you do something really really stupid the car is more than able to cope without any damage.

It was so so satisfying to waste Scoobys etc, trust me coming out the hairpin and having a Scoob trying to get by you and he can't is so so satisfying its unreal.

Best race of the day was the S vs a 230Bhp Civic Type R. Had 4 laps and managed to come out ahead, the guy driving it was a cracking bloke who goes to Knockhill pretty frequently.

Anyway the point here is that I would like to propose for those in Scotland (and anyone who wants to travel) that we organise a similar session but try to make it purely Mini's.

We need 25 cars and it's £40 a car for 2 Hours of absolute adrenalin buzzing fun. We went Friday from 4 pm thru 6pm.

If we can't make up 25 then we can always invite friends etc with decent cars to come play with the Mini pack.

All volunteers one step forward. If not enough take up then I will update you of next mixed outing.

See ya soon hopefully.....

Sounds quite good but I'm not sure about driving my car very fast

But I'm sure that after a few laps I might get the hang of it and who knows I might even enjoy it.

Once my car is run in I might be interested.

What speed were you able to get up to on Knockhill?

Speed !!!!

As John will tell you, like him I don't go fast in the car it might get scratched...

Seriously though speed is not the factor at Knockhill, it's all about getting round the corners and kerbing to place youself to take off after the corners. In all honesty I couldn't see the speedo for the smoke coming from the tyres !!

I'm sure John will show us a thing or two around there. I will even put him up for a night and provide some beers !! How's that for an offer.

So far

John (Zimmer provided to help you in the car !!)

I've had fun on track days but be careful... my friend nearly killed himself when he rolled his beautifully restored classic Cooper last year... all he did was clip a kerb. I'm never taking MY car onto a track again... maybe someone else's though!

Hmm...nappies required due to fun in trying to follow you !! Will try to get pensioners ones as well

You are in luck though. Not only are there post offices but there is an old folks home just behind Elspeth's house so somewhere to drop off after...

So come on where are the other volunteers ?

If this could be incorporated into part of the cullen run (again, my scottish geography may be showing a bit here), that'd be quite good

Incorporation

Dom

Could be that we spend a bit longer than first thought and work our way via Crail (John v.much at home there !!), Knockhill, whisky trail and then to Cullen ?

Thing is though I want to get back there asap e.g. In the next 4 weeks or so. I am hooked and think others may follow.

John could also help us all out if he were up for it by doing some hints and tips at Knockhill. I for one would love to learn more from him in an environment safer than the road.

Just been out in S with my friend who has a full racing licence, nappies definitely needed.....how the hell these guys know how to get so close to the limits is beyond me....at present

Tony, you missed me from list - I presume Rae is coming? Maybe we could arrange boys v girls? (I shall of course be borrowing Gerry's car - ha ha) Definitely up for Crail - maybe better fun that Knockhill as less corners = more speed? (not that either you or John would know about that?
)

Knockhill is far better than Crail.

And I hope you do come along in Gerry's car It's about time someone gave it a good thrashing

But I wanted to take my Cooper and if you take a Caterham then I'll just have to take the GTI-R to F**K you up then it will start to get silly and very expensive With a smile factor of

let's just everyone take everything and see who wins, after all, as you well know john, speedier car doesn't necessarily mean you win the race (Cullen ice cream run )

I have never raced an Elise at Knockhill but I have raced against a Caterham Lightweight,I was in standard Pulsar GTI-R and I managed to hold him off for 7 laps until finally I just let him past the Caterham was so much better on the brakes and I was quickly running out of them,so I let him pass and then stuck with him all the way.
They were very well matched but the Caterham had the stopping power.
Probably one of the best thrashes I've had at Knockhill.
