| 31st May - 1st June '08 - The Great North MINI Run - RUN NOTES ADDED ![]() 31st May – 1st June The Great North MINI Run 2008 RUN NOTES WILL BE POSTED AT THE END OF THIS POST CLOSER TO THE DATE PLEASE PRINT THEM AND BRING THEM ALONG Start Point Wellhouse farm Hexham Confirmed. The Great North MINI Run, well, an idea I had on my dinner break is now a new Event to the MINI calendar and hopefully a huge one, It will be a great weekend away for the MINI enthusiast and petrol heads alike which will last over 2 days but you are not required to stay the whole time you can leave at any point you wish! The days will involve a run through some great scenic roads involving some spirited driving and short stops for group or individual photos were possible, then a social evening on Saturday and some more spirited driving on Sunday with a pub lunch. This is a new event so please join us and make this HUGE. Oh and free sticker or 2 as well. Events: Meeting Saturday morning, a quick brief about the days events followed by a spirited drive to kielder water for lunch then a trip north to Jedburgh on the borders of Scotland, then back south towards the campsite to setup the tents, a few drinks and MINI banter, BBQ’s welcome so bring them with plenty of food and alcohol if your that way inclined Sundays Run will start at 10.00 so no early start there. This will involve a good run out through the Yorkshire Dales with a stop for luch at Hartside cafe (Hartside Heights) which is the Englands highest cafe at 1904ft above sea level and an awesome opourtunity for photos. Check this video on youtube for the drive up Hears a link to the website of the cafe Hartside Top (Hartside Heights) Cafe. Transport & Truck Stop suitable ALL Information will be either on this first post or will be edited in at some point. All Members and MINI owners are welcome including classics. Please read this whole page and make sure you are familiar with all the points upon arrival. Start Point and time: The Great North MINI Run will start on Saturday 31st May 2008, we will be leaving the campsite/start point 1030 sharp so please be hear no later than 1000 and if you like a chat before, the time is yours. Run Points and Rules First off all id like to thank everyone who turns up…. My first point is going to be that this is not a race, this run will be split up into 2 groups, 1st - Spirited drivers and people who have done quiet a few runs. 2nd - Will be for people who have done no runs up to maybe 2. If you want to go in a group of your own you are more than welcome just follow the notes as you wish. Runners who are fairly new to the MINI meets should note that the pace will be fairly quick and are not obliged to keep up at all; speed limits are to be obeyed at all times. If you feel you are loosing the pack and want to let them no then flash the car in front to signal you are loosing the pack and each MINI in front should do the same until the car has caught up and then re flash your lights to let them no your back in the group. Please remember we will be in a huge group of the same car, so pay due attention the road, signs, and pedestrians as to not give the MINI community a bad name. So that means no undue loud music while driving, also please don’t drive to close to the MINI in front and park sensibly and “photographically” at stops to get the best picture! Your car should be in a fit state to attend, with a full tank for the day. Were possible please try and fuel up at times like lunch or even on the evening to stop and possibility of breaking the time table. Directions to the Start point and Campsite: Please use this link or any similar to find directions to the campsite/start point which is Wellhouse Farm Campsite. http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/planner_main.jsp The Postcode to enter is NE43 7UY or if you have a satnav then this will make your life easier, ill try to include all postcodes for the lunch breaks etc for those with them, but please note your Satnav may take you on a different route than the run notes so please do NOT rely on it for the route, only if you get lost and need to catch up to the next main point or stop! Camping: The main evening will be Saturday, but for people that will be travelling a fair distance you can by all means stay Friday night but you will have to ring the campsite and book this yourself!
