Offline | Milton Keynes MINI Run and Barbecue (and Camp!) Milton Keynes MINI Run and Barbecue (and Camp!) Run - Saturday 21st June 2003 50 MINI Limit for BBQ and Camp For BBQ details/costs, please see this thread: MK BBQ Details ---------------- The run is on Saturday! BBQ and Camping to follow the run. The route starts in Milton Keynes (Close to J14 of the M1) take you on a tour of the country lanes of Beds, Bucks, and Northants for about 100 miles. The route finishes at Cosgrove, just to the North of Milton Keynes, close to the M1 and A5 so it will be easy to get on the run and get back home! We have limited the number of cars that can park at the finish and attend the Barbecue and (optional) camp to 50. ---------------- We're not lucky enough to have much in the way of mountains around here, so the route largely consists of picturesque, twisty country lanes through hills, woodland, and farmlands. We plan a half time stop at a country pub that can take us all in, before taking in the second half. We do not plan an organised sit down lunch, but it's a chance to quickly refuel yourself and use the 'facilities'! Start time will be 10 am on Saturday, the meeting point will be announced soon. The estimate the run will finish around 3 to 4pm in a park location, for a relaxed afternoon and evening gathering with Barbecue, before people decide to either stay on for the evening, hitting the local pub, heading into town in Milton Keynes, or head off for home in time to avoid a really late night if you have kids in tow, or work/plans for the next day. ---------------- For those who intend to meet up at the end there are costs involved. The finishing venue will be a secluded woodland area owned by the local Scout group, where we can all park up safely, and enjoy a relaxing barbecue, drink (soft for the drivers), and social get-together, this is also the camping location. The scouts charge for the use of their facilities, it's cheap, but you should be pre-warned: £1.25 per head admission to the site. £3.00 per head for those who camp over. For the barbecue it looks likely we we will arrange a kitty for those who want to join in to put money towards the catering, instead of people all bringing something they fancy! Cuttlery will be provided. You will have to provide your own drinks, driking water and toilets etc. are provided. ---------------- So, if you're keen, and if you have any suggestions or requests to throw in, speak up! ----------- There is an option to camp over for those who wish to end the run, get drunk, enjoy the barbecue, and fall asleep. The 21st June is also the longest day! For those who don't fancy roughing it, there are plenty of places to stay in and around Milton Keynes, however the date is shared with an Eminem concert in Milton Keynes, so places will be hard to find! ---------------------- List of people who've expressed an interest in attending (will be regularly updated): 1. On the following link you will see an entrance from the H8 Standing Way (which is also the A421) into Kingston. There is then a small mini-roundabout. Go into Kingston at that entrance (left off the H8) and take the first exit (left again) at the Mini roundabout. We'll be parked in a car park to your left. Link You can pan out from that to get a better view of the area over all. It's between J13 and J14 of the M1. ![]() There aint no party like my nana's tea party Last edited by Paul : Jun 17th, 2003 at 07:15 PM. |

Offline | Another note, we will try to get at least one car at the front and one at the back which know the correct route already (of course, directions will be given out anyway), so that we reduce the risk of losing people! ![]() There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | The stops are also pretty easy to get to, so we'll provide a bit of general information so people who get lost (not that anyone will!) will be able to get to the stop points and rejoin fairly easily. Paul ![]() There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | Also, I have mapped the route on AutoRoute 2002, so I can probably share the AutoRoute file for those that have it, and you can see the route in advance. There aint no party like my nana's tea party |
