United-Kingdom ROUND GREAT BRITAIN RELAY RUN 2004

I had idea that, wouldn't it be nice if there was an run that somehow could span the whole of Britain. This would be spread over 3 or 4 consecutive days- ideally taking in a late May Bank Holiday Monday. It would be broke into 3 main areas that would cover Scotland and the North, Yorkshire, and the Midlands and the South Coast and Wales.
I am not suggesting a huge convoy of Minis, simply a 'core group of say a dozen cars { I'm sure Martin would fire the starters gun!}' that would be joined on the 3 "regional stages' by the regional members. ideally if it could be planned so each 'regional stage' of the run was organised and planned and routed by the regional group. Therefore the 3 regional runs would combine to form the national run and MINI 2 could be united at last. Almost like The Round Great Britain Relay Run.

Is it a bit adventurous? Or is it the ultimate run? Since all the regional runs are so well organised by certain individuals it shouldn't be too difficult. We only have to agree where we start, and where one region takes over from the other.

Any thoughts?

Yes... you're completley insane.

Sounds excellent. Count me in on the southern regional one

Black Cooper all the way

I don't start anything I won't finish...

I'll have a full tank of petrol, an open highway and a Mini, what more can a guy want?

Great way to see this beautiful country..

Yellow Cooper This may sound crazy

We once did London - John O'Groats - Lands End - London on 48 hours.

It was a bit mad, but driving the Scottish Highlands at dawn was worth it.

I still have the highly detailed route book if you want it, c'mon whats 2000 miles between friends?

Actually, as I;m geting on a bit, can we do it over 3 days?

S

you must be nuts!

My friend last night said i was nuts and that he'd give me £100 if I did it!

mmmmmmm...

That got me thinking, if I'm going to do it then why don't we do it for charity as well? [with a split contribution to Mini 2].Wouln't this generate publicity, no different from a 200 mile bed push?
Iv'e already got £100 in the bag...

oh yes! what a mad & barely feasible idea - count me in!

It would generate huge amounts of publicity, we could get corporate sponsorship from the firms we all work for, BMW sponsorship..

Think you may have started something here!
Let's face it, who wouldn't want to grab some of THIS action?

Good Luck Taz!

My Psychiastrist has kindly offered to give me a lengthy vacation in a secluded country house. The pictures in the brochure looks really good, everybody seems really relaxed and quite sedate, and the hotel staff look really smart in their clean starched white uniforms.
